Olympic Sports that baffle me

Olympic sports I don't understand

The London Olympics, or at least the coverage that we are seeing in the USA (I think Expat Mum expresses the frustration at NBC's coverage of the XXX Olympiad far better than I) is utterly compelling to watch. I wish, of course, that we could see more of the British competitors, but DH and I are incredibly proud of the show that is the 2012 Olympic Games. What I love about the Olympics is that you get to watch a whole range of sporting events … [Read more...]

Bags of Love Review

photo washbag from bags of love

I, like everyone else, coveted an Anya Hindmarch Photo bag when they first came out all those years ago. Of course, price was a significant factor so I never got one. So when Bags of Love got in touch offering me a product to review, it took a lot of strength to say no. Not to the review, but to the bag I had dreamed of for so long. DH had a more pressing need for a wash bag, you see.   Men don't really 'do' bags. They don't really … [Read more...]

Two words: Trunki Giveaway

Last year when we went on holiday to Mallorca, the airport was alive  with Trunkis, including LBG's Trixie (that's the bright pink one). They are great for airports: all that open space and smooth polished flooring make them easy to pull and better to ride on. This week, we hit North America, and saw only one other Trunki the entire trip, so got lots of attention as we travelled through Toronto and Phoenix Airports. Several people asked me where … [Read more...]

5 fun Olympic Logo crafts

logo suncatcher

...specifically the logo of the 2012 London Olympics. Did you know that this will be the first time that the same essential logo is to be used for both the Olympic and Paralympic games? Nor me. I love Wikipedia! It would have been helpful if someone had pointed out to me slightly earlier that the logo is not just a bit of mindless graffiti, but actually the numbers 2, 0, 1 and 2. Anyway, since the whole 'spherical objects' crafts have been … [Read more...]

Reinventing Tuna Pasta with Princes Wild Alaskan Salmon

salmon gnocchi

Tuna pasta. I can remember eating it quite regularly when growing up: we always had the ingredients in the tins cupboard. And taking my parents example, I have always had the ingredients in my cupboard. But I've probably made it once since we got married. Every time I suggest it, DH looks at me like I've suggested we eat raw marrow. But I have at last come up with an alternative that meets with his approval, for days when I don't feel like … [Read more...]

Intermission

sorelle no alcohol wine

Whilst you are reading this, I am in transit, somewhere between London Heathrow and Phoenix, Arizona. We're following the Vegemite Vixen Supreme's example and bailing out whilst the Great British Sporting Event is on. But we do, bizarrely, play a small part, though we are not in London. Because whilst we are not in our home, another family is. That family are supporting a member of their family, who is competing in the BMX event at London … [Read more...]
