I'm getting used to my new normal: the daily school run, ensuring LBG has her Show and Tell item on a Tuesday and her gym bag on a Thursday, as well as her blazer and her book bag, her boater and her water bottle. And then I have to remember which days to take Dimples back home with me! Now that I have Dimples by herself two days a week, I am getting into the habit of making time to do activities with her, some that I did with her sister at … [Read more...]
Cocktails at Beaufort House
I had the luxury of enjoying a drink by myself on Tuesday. In this case the drink was an amazing Espresso Martini, served by candlelight in the ground floor of Beaufort House, whilst I read a few pages on my Kindle, unencumbered by children. And yet, it transpires that Beaufort House is child-friendly. Eons ago, when I lived across the bridge in Battersea, the building was a Russian bar called Babushka that I only ever walked past. As a Nespresso fan, I stuck my nose in and before you could say "curiosity killed the cat" I found myself agreeing to get involved in Feisty Tapas' #NespressoChallenge. I would rather have two or three useful talks than a dozen lightweight ones. Which is how I came to be a trifle disappointed when Blogcamp London started last week and the Google+ presentation … [Read more...]
Glitter and glue pumpkin
Last year, I was amazed by the beautiful drip painting pumpkins that The Imagination Tree family made, so it's not surprising that they were the inspiration behind the Pumpkin decorating that Dimples and I spent time on today when we created Glitter and glue pumpkins! Rather than paint, the request was made for glitter. So I figured I could substitute PVA glue for the paint, which we dripped and dribbled all over the top of our squash. … [Read more...]

Dear Zoo is 30.
There comes a time in everyone's life when they find themselves knowing books by heart. Dear Zoo is one of those books: parents the length and breadth of the country can recite it verbatim, so often have they read the story to their little ones. In fact roughly one on five UK households has a copy of the book somewhere on it's shelves. The classic book, written by Rod Campbell, was published thirty years ago. Thirty years. What I … [Read more...]
