Christmas is not Christmas without DH cooking Moroccan Tagine, from Nigella's recipe. The key ingredient is pomegranate juice and the addition of pomegranate seeds just before serving. It has a rich ruby colour that I love and tastes sublime. And it is the reason that our Girls love Pomegranate seeds, or jewels- as they are known in our house. All of which takes me back to my childhood in Cyprus and eating pomegranates, freshly picked, … [Read more...]
Walking Matilda USA
Matilda Kelly is 2 years old. She suffers from Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, which means she is unable to walk unaided and has to rely on a walker. She loves to run, dance and play. Her parents are trying to raise £70,000 to take Matilda to America for corrective orthopaedic surgery that will improve her life immeasurably. {Recipe} Reindeer Nose Cookies
If I'm honest, these are just vamped-up Snickerdoodles, but the name has stuck. So in honour of Dimples, who was an excellent Reindeer in her first Christmas Show, I would like to share a very easy recipe for Reindeer Nose Cookies with you. Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp cream of tartar 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda pinch salt 115g unsalted butter, at room temperature 3/4 cup caster sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla … [Read more...]
{Review} Annabel Karmel Fuss Pots
When I received a trial of Annabel Karmel Fuss Pots, it couldn't have come at a better time. We had two friends to tea, one of whom is a 'recovering' fuss-pot, so they would be the ideal little people on which to trial the pots. The little pots are the latest in a range of foods by the Under-5's Food Guru Annabel Karmel, created with fussy eaters in mind. They come in four flavours: Spaghetti Bolognaise, Nasi Goreng, Chicken Korma and Chicken … [Read more...]
Roll a Reindeer
The Roll-a-Reindeer idea came off the back of my summer roll-a-sandcastle craft which was a big hit with my Girls. It's one of those incredibly versatile games that helps with numeracy and co-ordination, so it's the perfect thing for long winter nights. I simply cut the necessary shapes from felt, and used an A5 felt piece to stick the pieces onto: by using felt it made the game reusable, which is ideal for Dimples, who begged to play … [Read more...]
366 Week 48
Sunday: we drove out to Sevenoaks for a superb lunch at The White Hart. Shortly thereafter we cut short a walk at Knoll Park when the Wonder Hound disgraced herself. That's all I have to say about that. Monday: with LBG back to school, Dimples and I had to 'get stuff done' which went surprisingly well. I've given up pretending I do anything other than fall asleep at the Girls' bedtime, so my days are truncated. Tuesday: with … [Read more...]
Swagbucks: the story so far
So, what have I learned about Swagbucks in the week since I joined up? Well, Swagbucks is a strange animal. You have to programme yourself to change the way you do things online in order to make the most benefit from it. Using Swagbucks as your search engine randomly nets you bucks. But it's an effort to remember to do it and I use Chrome, which doesn't support the Swagbucks toolbar. Likewise, you have to network: the more referrals you … [Read more...]
