Christmas Stocking Game

christmas stocking dice game

There's nothing my children love more than a game which allows them to eat sweets. We're playing the knife-and-fork game at their Gingerbread House Decorating Party (that expression is too long to say easily) which I loved as a child and is perfect for parties, but for smaller groups, this Christmas Stocking Game gets my vote. I originally found the idea last year on Activity Mum's blog but have altered the game slightly to suit my … [Read more...]

The 12 Days of Christmas, updated

Toyota asked BritMums bloggers to vlog the 12 Days of Christmas, and there were some super cute entries. My voice took this a a cue to disappear- I've been suffering laryngitis for the past three weeks- so all my hopes of being on the small screen were dashed. But after a morning with Dimples, realising that there are three (well, 2.5) days left of school and only 12 days until we go to Prague, I 'adjusted' my list and would like to share it with … [Read more...]

366 Week 49

Sunday: I'm not sure if it was quite dawn when DH and I were out on the street, inadequately dressed fir the cold in our pjs, videoing the children as they attempted to cycle for the first time. Later in the day we took a walk to the beach, had lunch at the Beach Cafe before heading back to the centre of Westgate-on-Sea for the annual Christmas Fair. We went on a ride, bought candy floss and won a couple of pink dogs on Hook-a-Duck so pretty much … [Read more...]

Candle light-catcher ornament

Paper Plate Candle Light catcher

I really love making light-catchers. They are a super craft for all ages and all seasons. They are so easy to make too. Cut your 'outline'- in this instance, a flickering candle, from dark coloured card or paper.I used paper plates as they are conveniently round and therefore perfect for hanging on the tree. Cover the whole of one side with contact paper- better known as sticky back plastic in the UK. Cover the sticky side with small … [Read more...]

Handmade Christmas: Ring Bowls

handmade clay ring bowl

This winter I wanted to make something pretty but very simple, that I could give to my mother and mother-in-law for Christmas. To make these little ring bowls, you will need: air drying clay rolling pin doily of piece of lace acrylic paint Mod Podge (or clear varnish)   Firstly, soften your clay: air-drying clay has an odd texture and it needs working a lot to really soften it. Once softened, roll out … [Read more...]
