Take one just-three-year-old and wrap well. Tear coffee filters or tissue paper or indeed kitchen roll, into strips. Apply insane amounts of glue to your plastic bowl (ours was one half of a giant Lindor ball that we got at Christmas) Apply strips of paper. Apply glue, then paper, then glue until you are exhausted. Leave to dry whilst child exhausts themselves doing whatever it is that three-year-olds do best. Once dry, … [Read more...]
{Kids Craft} Mother’s Day flowerpots from egg cartons
A really simple craft for children to make ahead of Mother's Day is a tiny egg carton flower pot with pompom flowers. Banana Chocolate Cream Pie
It's so annoying when you have 90% of the ingredients for a dessert. And I had 90% of the ingredients for a banoffee pie recently. So I had to rethink and created instead a Banana Chocolate Cream Pie. The title is loosely based on the American Creme Pie but that has a custardy layer and this is much simpler and quicker to make. You need: 1 packet chocolate digestive biscuits (300g) 80g melted butter 3 bananas 1 pot double cream … [Read more...]

You can never go wrong with a … [Read more...]

Pipecleaner doll in a tin travel toy
We do quite a bit of travelling now that we have discovered Home Exchanges. One that caught my eye was this tiny mouse in a tin at Oh Sweet Babies. Now, of course, whilst I appreciate the patience and love that went into the original, I wasn't about to set to … [Read more...]
Chocolate Spanakopita
A while ago Dimples made Spanakopita at her cooking class, the savoury version. And at the time it didn't go down well in DG Manor because both she and her daddy were allergic to cheese. DH still is, but he loves chocolate- another thing he and Dimples have in common-so when I had some filo pastry left over from making Baklava a couple of weeks ago, I was struck by inspiration. You need to chop- I used … [Read more...]
