When PD Built a Bear.

If you were to have said Build-a-Bear Workshop to me a month ago I’d have sighed, conjuring up a half-forgotten memory of a bear I received one birthday when I worked for a well-known insurance company. I’d only been there about six weeks when it was my birthday and they thought that I would love a fluffy lamb dressed up in a pink dress. Whilst I appreciated the thought and sentiment gift, I cannot fathom what made them parlay my … [Read more...]

On the couch for Q & A

I have been tagged in possibly the best meme of the moment, (which I assume to mean that everyone who is anyone has already been tagged and so now it has filtered down to the ranks of those desperate hoping to be someone sometime soon,) for which I am thoroughly indebted to Ellen at In a Bun Dance. All Hail Mrs Lister, who started this particular ball rolling a mere 15 days ago. She clearly doesn't have children if: "there’s one … [Read more...]

According to PD's Easter Countdown there are 6 days until the Easter bunny comes, so it was high time we got busy with a LOT of glue and half of the world's supply of sparkle to decorate our Easter Bonnets. Whilst the girls got busy, I had to find something to occupy myself so that I was too busy to interfere help. Fortunately there was a packet of polystyrene eggs in the bottom of the Easter craft bag Granny had kindly given us and, with a … [Read more...]

In which I love a bargain, or how Poundland has all you need for Easter Crafts!

I am a big fan of Poundland and, if my small corner of this green and pleasant land is anything to go by, I’m not the only one. In the middle of this recession, our local branch has actually doubled in size. Quite simply they offer great value. For a mum of young children, I am a particular fan of the wealth of crafting goodies that you can pick up. So I was surprised and delighted recently when a lovely PR firm sent me some Poundland Craft … [Read more...]

1930’s Housewife: the Life Before P&G challenge

I have never doubted that I am a deeply privileged person, but my trip to the 1930’s certainly reminded me of that. You may have seen around the blogosphere that a whole host of bloggers (Marisworld, Mid30'slife, and meandmyshadow to name but three)  have been trying to spend the day as a 1930’s housewife, challenged by Proctor and Gamble to see what it was like to keep house before the advent of washing up liquid and washing machines. I … [Read more...]
