Forgive me whilst I indulge myself in a little grumpiness whilst I recount the thrilling 48 hours that was my weekend. It's all Tara's fault. Whilst pretty much every English Blogger on my G Reader was at Cybermummy, my weekend went a little something like this: Saturday 6.30am local time: get up, shower, pack last bits into suitcases. Make coffee. Consider taking a second shower as Mallorca is ridiculously hot at 7am. Get children up, … [Read more...]
10 alternative uses for a Pashmina
When the Pashmina craze hit a thousand years ago, I threw away my customary silk neck ties and upgraded as soon as I had the money. I just loved the way it made my employer look so casually elegant, thrown over her shoulders on a summer evening, or wrapped round her neck on winter days. Wonderfully versatile, I thought, and they have been part of my wardrobe ever since. Never have I been more glad of a Pashmina (or cotton-based-copy which I … [Read more...]

Find me a Gift
We spent the weekend at the kind of house that could have been used to film Downton Abbey. I slumped in the ginormous 1920's bathtub and closed my eyes, imagining what it must have been like to wake in the morning when I was ready, knowing that the children were being seen to in the nursery, and trying to decide what to do with my day. Should I write a letter, ride my horse or paint a picture of the stunning views of open countryside from the … [Read more...]
Alice’s Bucket List: can you help?
Alice has terminal cancer. She is 15 years old. Like any teenage girl, she has a wish list of things she would love to do. She has published them on her blog. Unlike them, she has limited time. I have two little girls, who are more precious to me than anything. I hope that if I were in Alice's mother's position, I'd be as amazingly strong, as clever, and capable, as Alice says, of doing anything: I think I'm going to have to ask mum … [Read more...]
Easy Father’s Day Crafts
Inspired by Maggy at Red Ted Art and Robinsons, we've been making a Squash Monster pen holder for DH's day. I used spray paint to give the inside a ghoulish purple tint, then coated the outside in chalkboard spray, which means that whilst he is making dull business calls, DH can doodle monster faces with chalk. Give it a quick wipe and you can start all over again. Oh, and this particular Monster's favourite treats are … [Read more...]
