We're off to visit the Rentals next weekend and the Girls are beside themselves with excitement. Babar made and installed a bug hotel after we saw them last and I'm hopeful that there may be some mini-beasts to spy on when we get there. If not, there's always the pool, so they'll be happy either way. I won't because I'll spend the whole time marshalling the Wonder Hound, who is deeply suspicious of the pump and spends a good chunk of her time … [Read more...]
Inspired by: July
Crikey, where did July go? I'm well into the summer holidays now, and I think we've developed a routine at DG Manor, though don't go quoting me on that. The holidays have been a great excuse for doing more stuff I've found across the interweb and been inspired by. PD and I are currently working on her letters and numbers, so this where I live project at Teach Mama has been perfect for the letter I, in addition to teaching my little big girl … [Read more...]

Just look at her list now: Some of my bucket list DONE - To swim with sharks To make everyone sign up to be a bone marrow donor To go to Kenya DONE - To … [Read more...]
How to make a paper plate pocket watch: a Thomas Cook Kids Club Competition entry
I hate it when someone throws down the gauntlet at me. I am a person who is incapable of saying “No!” Fortunately, the advantage of the challenge Maggy at RedTed set me is that I get to spend time with my children. We get to spend time together making stuff. And in return for the making of fun stuff with my Girls, there is a chance that we may win a big stash of goodies thanks to Thomas Cook. Thus I found myself downloading one of the stories … [Read more...]
Ten Ways to Play: Cupcake Cases
You’d have to be Rupert Murdoch not to know that the Summer Holidays are upon us, meaning that the streets, shops, cafes, parks and restaurants are busier between the hours of 9 and 3 that they have been for the last few months. Neither PD nor I are huge fans of busy-ness, so the long vacation usually sees us spending more time at home than ever, crafting. As usual, 10 Ways to Play is primarily about crafting with things that you have lying … [Read more...]
Learning to Shine
The best thing about Dimples being born, aside from having her in our lives of course, was the trip to the hospital. To most women at the end of pregnancy this wouldn’t have even registered, but to me it was an adventure because for the first time in weeks, I got to leave the house. SPD, or Pelvic Girdle Pain as it is now better known, had rendered me wheelchair- and, for a good chunk of the snowy winter, house-bound for the best part of my third … [Read more...]
