Sunday, as ever, was a day of beach walks and packing up to come back to London. This weekend ended slightly earlier as LG had yet another birthday party to attend. On Monday night we had dinner with old friends/employers in Wimbledon and didn't get home until 1am, which meant that I have been struggling to keep up ever since. Then Tuesday … [Read more...]
BritMums 2012 Meet and Greet
I've got my ticket and I'm really excited to be attending BritMums Live this year. There are some amazing speakers that i am very keen to meet in Real Life, some I am excited to be catching up with and others that I owe a drink to and will be trying to avoid! I'm keen to have a full spreadsheet of who is in which category before I get there, so I'm joining in the Stepford Wifey (aka Carly of Mummy's Shoes) BritMums Meet and Greet. So … [Read more...]
Lets go fishing: how to make pipe-cleaner fish.
I got a parcel this morning and couldn't wait to share it with the Girls. I bought a Magnifying Glass and Tweezer set for them. I also bought a second set of tweezers so there was no fighting. A couple of minutes later and they were sorting Halloween pompoms into muffin tins. Naturally, a few minutes after that they were fighting because using the tweezers was challenging, and they moved on to grabbing as many as they could with their … [Read more...]
Mistletoe reinvented: Kiss-letoe!
Before Christmas Mum in the Madhouse made some beautiful Mistletoe from felt, which I loved, and pinned. Looking through my pins the other day, I noticed LBG also looking. "What's the Mamma?" She asked. "Mistletoe" I told her "Miss-a-toe" repeated Dimples I then had to explain what it is and why we use it. "Kissy-toe" quoth Dimples. Which is how I found myself this afternoon cutting heart shapes from a bright pink … [Read more...]
Toys Naturally Giveaway
I was meant to do this giveaway before Christmas as part of the Kickstart Campaign. I nearly published it about three times. But I didn't want Hillary to get lost in the melee of Christmas giving. Which is not to say that she isn't worthy of it, because she is. Toys Naturally is her baby: a business born in a difficult financial climate committed to the ethos that toys should be well made from ethically sourced, natural products. And there is … [Read more...]
Project 366: week 2
It's the first full week back to work and school so it's been rather busy. I'm finding it hard work getting going in the morning, and I'm not the only one. But we've been booking house exchanges for later in the year so we have lots to look forward to. The work has started on the first part of our build: skip number three is in the driveway and we hope to have foundations laid in the early part of the coming week. It's astonishing to think that … [Read more...]
How to make a new year wreath from a calendar
For a fun last minute gift for your lovely next door neighbour who invited you in for New Year drinks, find yourself two small children, a pair of scissors, a stick of glue and a cheap calendar. Take your (in)expensive calendar and tear it apart page by page. Cut a rectangle out of the centre of the back-board so that you have a frame. Slice the top of each page off so that you are left with the twelve months. Stick these to the … [Read more...]
