Since our first trip on a plane with LBG (then PD) we have travelled as a family with remarkably few incidents. Now that The Girls are a touch older they are having more input into where we travel and what we do whilst we are there. As part of my #52Challenges project this year, I used this month's review with Bureau Direct to facilitate our Family Travel Journal for 2015. Over the year we will be keeping the various ticket stubs, flyers and … [Read more...]
The Memory Project #52Changes
I have decided to embark on a project ahead of my 39th birthday which I have called #52Changes. One of the items on my list of 52 is to read #52books, and one of those has been The Memory Book by Rowan Coleman. Essentially a story about families and the loss of memories, the eponymous book forms the central part of the story and it is the idea of a Memory Book which has stayed with me long after I passed the book onto my mother to read. The … [Read more...]
January Stationery
I'm undoubtedly showing my age, or my fondness for Radio 2, but since I wrote the words January and Stationery, I keep humming this Barbara Dickson song. Which has no relevance at all. January arrives with a burst of enthusiasm and a determination to "organise my life". Which is why I change the goal posts and switched my beginning of year from January to September. My Quo Vadis diary is working brilliantly, on the kitchen table. But my … [Read more...]
In the Pink with #StationeryWednesday
This month I am in the Pink with #StationeryWednesday. Or should that be P-ink? The wonderful thing about Bureau Direct is that if you feel you are losing yourself in stationery quicksand, if you are searching for a gift, if you know you want something but don't know what, they have a category for that. Last month I was seduced by the content of the weekly Bureau Direct email, which you can sign up for so that you get the latest … [Read more...]
Visiting Santa in his Harrods workshop
Last year we were invited to visit Harrod's Santa for review purposes, and whilst we enjoyed our experience, we had a few criticisms. This year, assured that these had all been addressed, we once again travelled into London to experience the wonder of a "Big Name" Santa, visiting Santa in his Harrods workshop. And I have to say that Harrod's Santa 2014 was a vast improvement on 2013. It was an actual Winter Wonderland- a forest of white … [Read more...]
In which I am seduced by stationery #StationeryWednesday
I admit it: I have been seduced. Last month, welcomed to the busom of Bureau Direct's #StationeryWednesday family, I had a plan. I knew what I wanted, I welcomed the change of schedule (see what I did there?) to my life and I have not looked back. Not so this month. I had plans for fountain pens and coloured ink, having coveted the Herbin pens that were spoken so highly of by Being Mrs C and Typecast. Then came the weekly … [Read more...]
Kicking at the leaves: Autumn Kids Clothes from House of Fraser
Autumn conjours up pictures of cold, bright days, kicking up leaves in every hue of Umber and Orange and snaffling blackberries still hiding under leaves and getting the juice all over your fingerless gloves. It's a time of scarves and gilets rather than coats and hats. Yet for us at DG Cottage, it's like a switch has been flicked from Indian Summer to Wet British Winter with very little Autumn between the two. The leaves fall from the trees, … [Read more...]
