We were sent some Special K Crackers to review. I'm not a crisps person ordinarily so the ferocity with which I consumed these once the pack was alarming enough for DH to remove them to the 'safety' of a business trip to Leeds. Crisp as a poppadum and with a delightfully sweet and hot Sweet Chilli flavour, they definitely hit the pre-dinner-munchies spot. And at only 95 calories per serving versus 154 in a standard sized bag of salted Kettles … [Read more...]
Five tips for buying your School Run Coat
There are things that I am beginning to find essential in a coat now that I spent about half of my week on the school run. Never mind the latest fashion, if I am standing out in all weathers (which, lets face it, mostly means 'wind' and 'rain' and often 'both together' in the UK) then I want to be warm and dry and Vogue can go and hang itself. I'll give you a minute to recover from the very idea that I even know how to spell Vogue, never mind … [Read more...]
Hama time: crafting with melting beads
If you heard a scream last week, it was me, opening a package filled with Hama Beads from Play Merrily. When The Girls came running to see what was wrong, they screamed too, and were frustrated that our week was such that we didn't get the chance to break open the boxes until the weekend. But when we did we had such #hamatime fun. Never having come across them before, I have rather fallen in love. And The Girls have too. It's one of those … [Read more...]
Keyless digital lock review
We have an alleyway between our house and the neighbours which is shared and allows access to our garages, and which is barred by a gate. In order to open the gate you have to walk all the way through the house, unlock the back door and the garden gate then walk back along the alley to open the gates from the inside. It is inconvenient to say the least. Which is why I was utterly delighted to be sent a fabulous keyless digital lock. It is … [Read more...]
Buttonbag ReCraft book launch
I got to Get Crafty last week at Oxfam in Camden High Street. Buttonbag- a fabulous sewing kit company started by Sarah and Sara (I know, that confused me somewhat) have created a series of fabulous crafting kits which enable you to repurpose bits you already have (or indeed Oxfam purchases) to make lovely things like bunting and thrifty patches . It's such a super idea. On top of that, the ideas they came up with when they began working with … [Read more...]
Fine Wines Direct
There is very little I need to tell you about Fine Wines Direct, other than that I thoroughly recommend them. They very kindly sent us some wine to test at DG Manor. The service was utterly remarkable: no sooner had I mailed to tell them of the sort of wines DH and I enjoy that three delicious wines were on my doorstep. Service, quality and understanding: what is not to love? The Chablis I took to the first Parent Representative … [Read more...]
Dear Zoo is 30.
There comes a time in everyone's life when they find themselves knowing books by heart. Dear Zoo is one of those books: parents the length and breadth of the country can recite it verbatim, so often have they read the story to their little ones. In fact roughly one on five UK households has a copy of the book somewhere on it's shelves. The classic book, written by Rod Campbell, was published thirty years ago. Thirty years. What I … [Read more...]
