Dimples has been up during the night of late. She’s cutting teeth, poor thing. She’s done incredibly well with the two teeth she’s had up until now and although the nights are hard work, I’m really glad she’s getting more teeth so that she can enjoy gnawing on lots of the delicious fruits that will shortly be coming into season. It has reminded me that I need to take her to the dentist: absurd though it is, she can’t be registered at our … [Read more...]
Yogurty Lemon Drizzle Cake
The lovely people at Danone seem to think I’m quite a reasonable cook. Reasonable enough at least to offer me a couple of cartons of their fabulous new Activia pouring yogurt, as advertised by Jamie Theakston, don’t you know. Me and Jamie? We’re like that. OK, so we might not be like that, but I bet we would if he were to taste the divine lemon drizzle cake I made with the Natural Yogurt (it also comes in Strawberry and Vanilla). The yogurt … [Read more...]
Well start parent software
I am far from the most techno savvy person, and I had to be talked into trying the Wellstart Parenting software. But I'm so very pleased that I did try it, because it's some pretty clever stuff. The software has been designed by experienced GPs and parents rather than techno-geeks with their eye on the next big thing, so it actually does what it says on the tin and provides really useful tools to parents, parents-to-be and people who are trying … [Read more...]
Mother’s Day Cath Kidston Giveaway
I know that we're still in March, but as you turn the calendar in two weeks' time, you'll be shocked to realise that you only have three days to buy wrap and send a personalised, heartfelt Mother's Day gift. It goes without saying that I am relatively new to motherhood, but have been looking after children for long enough to know that this is one of those days you don't want to forget (along with birthday and anniversary. I defy you to 'forget' … [Read more...]
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
I've written before about books and reading with children. In fact I ran a competition to win some Charlie and Lola books and I'm delighted to say that they are winging their way to Red Ted Art even as we speak (as it were.) If you didn't win, fear not, since there will be more books to give away very soon. World Book Day came and went without me really being aware of it, since I have been encumbered by a cold to rival the one that deprived … [Read more...]
Wagg the dog: delicious treats for the hound in your life.
I always wanted a dog with the sort of name that makes you look a bit bonkers. OK, so I looked a bit bonkers long before we got the dog, but it always amused me, in a puerile sort of way, to think of someone striding across a park shouting "Doughnut" or "Slapper". You would think they were bonkers until you realised that they had a lead in their hand and were chasing after the gorgeous silky-coated Labrador you'd just been admiring at a … [Read more...]
Pay it Forward 2011: Giving
"Pay it forward 2011: I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. (I promise!) They in turn must post this and send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their status. The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011" #payitforward2011 I saw this in my Facebook timeline recently and, though I did pause for a moment to consider … [Read more...]
