Buy Blue Basil Gourmet Brownies

Easter bunny brownies

As ever, the email request was assumed to be rhetorical: would I like to review some brownies? Only if you can't give me this week's Lottery winning numbers... So imagine my utter joy when a parcel awaited my return from the school run this morning: DH must have signed for it and then departed for Bristol, so he's missing out. I am an admirer of beautiful packaging, so Blue Basil Gourmet Brownies had me mentally writing this review before … [Read more...]

Cake and Biscuits Cookie Dough- just shape and bake!

chocolate cookies

I found the Cake and Biscuits Dough in my local 99p Store last week. Given that ready-made cookie dough retails for a lot more than that in the supermarkets, it seemed silly not to give it a try, so that afternoon we took them to Granny's house. As Granny is living in a rental and most of her things are in storage, she has a fairly basic range of kitchen supplies (I say that compared to my house which has every kind of baking-related-object known … [Read more...]

Cubby Kit Review

Smiley martian

There is no doubt that the concept behind CubbyKits is brilliant. I have seen Kiwi Crates talked about on some of the American blogs that I read so had an idea what would be involved. And when we got back from holiday there was a seriously smart looking package on the doorstep addressed to the Little Big Girl. Inside was a bunch of pots and pieces of paper, all of which after careful reading (my job) and mixing (her job) led to a fun … [Read more...]

Pancake Tuesday: can anyone feed my craving for Biscoff/Speculoos Spread?

Nutella Pancakes on a Canterbury bench

We got the bug for pancakes during half-term. On a day out in Canterbury, and weary after a lot of walking on cobbles, there was a need for a little something. Lo we spied a Creperie Van and a few minutes later were munching on pancakes whilst fending off the irrepressible flock of pigeons. The girls enjoyed their Nutella Crepe- a favourite of smalls across the land- whilst DH tucked in to apple and cinnamon. I rather controversially veered away … [Read more...]

Fabulous Bakin’ Boys Mini Muffins

Fabulous bakin boys mini muffins review

There are certain things that could precipitate divorce at DG Manor. Refusing free cake when it is offered is one of them. So I said yes. Not that this was a challenge, since the cake that was on offer was from the Fabulous Bakin' Boys, with whom I am quite familiar (not a euphemism.) I cannot recommend their chocolate flapjacks enough: they got me through two fairly epic six-day baby-related hospital stays. They may also have contributed to … [Read more...]
