It's so lovely when review products work beautifully together. Take coffee and cake, for example, which blend perfectly, especially in a household which considers tea to be the work of the devil. I have mentioned before that I was raised on Turkish coffee- a special thick brew which requires a particular kind of sweet and sticky morsel to be consumed with it. I like Turkish Coffee, but it's a hassle to brew. And I love our coffee machine, but it … [Read more...]
Win a holiday voucher with Latedeals
I need a holiday: I have been up the last three nights with Dimples who takes to a cold like a man. It's exhausting. To make matters worse, LBG seems- unsurprisingly given that they recently decided to share the same bed 'until we are grown-up ladies'- has gone down with the same lurgy. I have trailed home during rush hour bearing all the symptoms and we have a week left to get through until school break's up for Easter. Meanwhile DH is … [Read more...]
Egg carton Easter Nest and Lindt Bunnies
A couple of weeks ago, The Girls and I were making Mother's Day flowerpots from egg cartons. They are super easy to make and so we had a few left over, which I have 'reinvented' as Easter nests that we can give to friends' children over the Easter period. The brilliant thing is that these egg carton 'nests' or 'burrows' are just the right size for the little Lindt bunnies that are on sale this time of year. The Girls were recently sent … [Read more...]
{Review} Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum
I don't ordinarily write about beauty products because I pay little attention to my skin but I have to tell you this story. More Than Toast wrote a post the other day about her current face favourites: the products that make a difference to how her skin looks and feels. I have never been one to bother with all that sort of stuff but I have noticed of late that my skin is starting to look it's age: I guess it's the 'mother effect'. So I was … [Read more...]
Red Ted Art wrote a book!
Two years ago I got a tweet from Red Ted Art asking if I wanted to do a guest post on her blog. I remember the moment clearly because I laid the laptop down and ran around the sitting room squealing. DH was none the wiser when I tried to tell him that the Red Ted wanted me. Not only had she heard of me, but she'd got in touch and she wanted me. Fast forward to this evening as he just shrugged when I told him I was having a hangout with Maggy … [Read more...]
Barbie and The Pink Shoes Giveaway
My Girls love ballet. LBG goes every Friday after school and I love peering in through the window watching her hold her little blue skirt and skipping around the room. It reminds me of my days dancing in the village hall on Saturday mornings in a crossover ballet cardigan lovingly knitted by my mother. Ballet has so many benefits to young children- strength, agility, poise, rhythm- I can't help wondering if it shouldn't be on the National … [Read more...]
Lemlem’s injera and the #FoodFrontline
I’m Lemlem Tesjay and I lost my husband 14 years ago. I have two children, a daughter and a son. I don’t know why he died. He dropped dead. Nine years after he died I got tested and I found out I was HIV positive. I was feeling occasionally ill and I had attended so many training workshops about HIV that I saw the signs that people were talking about. Because of the training sessions I knew that I could live with … [Read more...]
