The last time I went to Lucky Voice, it was a friend's 40th. We spent the night singing the hits of the eighties and drinking shots with Cola Bottles in them. I woke up with a sore head and a sore throat the next morning. It was awesome. On Sunday morning, my sore head was the result of getting up too early and trying to read instructions to our Lucky Voice Karaoke Kit without my glasses on. Once I'd located them I realised that … [Read more...]
How to cook the perfect Christmas Turkey
This week I got to spend time in the kitchen of Marco Pierre White whilst he told me how to cook the perfect turkey ahead of Christmas Day, thanks to the #leanonturkey campaign. This meant eating Christmas lunch in September. Just to check that it was indeed excellent turkey. Who was I to say no? It turns out that Marco recommends the domestic cook buy a Turkey Crown. He demonstrated in a very caveman fashion how to cut up the bird to get the … [Read more...]
Tesco Mum of the Year 2014
My day has been pretty rubbish: I hurt my back helping DH fix the bed that the removals men had failed to put back up correctly. I had to yank a giant splinter out of my foot, which has added to my limp and then I wrangled my three-year-old, who was complaining bitterly about the rain- around the new school campus trying to find the ballet class I needed to pick LBG up from. The biggest highlight was having the Gas man switch the Aga on. By … [Read more...]
{Review} My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – Welcome to Ponyville
I read today that children are more fond of the toys and characters from the eighties than they are the modern characters and activities. Which works out well for me because I didn't get most of them first time around, living overseas as I did. A survey of 1,000 parents by Clearvision – to mark the launch of the new My Little Pony on DVD for the first time in the UK – found the overwhelming majority of young children prefer traditional toys to … [Read more...]
{Review} Lego Lunch Box
The Girls were delighted when, on the first day back at school, they came home to a parcel of fabulous Lego Lunch boxes and drinks bottles from STORE. It took about ten minutes to unwrap and wash them before they were in use: hosting a 'packed tea' on the front lawn at the end of a hot day. The Description: Our classic LEGO® Lunch range is based on the creative and playful world of The LEGO® Group. It consists of a lunch box, smaller … [Read more...]
{Review} Activity Toys Direct
I promised The Girls that when we moved, we would get them a trampoline. They left behind a fantastic swingset/climbing frame with built-in tree-house and picnic table, as well as the playhouse we had installed for LBG's first birthday, so they gave up a lot in the move. A trampoline seemed like a perfectly reasonable request. I know nothing about trampolines. I just knew that I wanted one 'that big' that was safe and secure and well-built. As … [Read more...]
A-Dora-ble: our review of Dora the Explorer Live
I hadn't actually watched an entire episode of Dora The Explorer until today when we walked up to the Churchill Theatre to review the Dora The Explorer Live! experience. And it was an experience. The stalls were filled with row upon row of children singing and shouting and stamping and totally engaged with Dora and the cast as they spun their story of the journey to the City of Lost Toys. The show had all the features that you see on … [Read more...]
