I recently mentioned that I am a bit Mamarazzi when it comes to taking pictures of my children. The thing is that with the advent of digital photography, all those images seem to remain on my phone or Dropbox and I do nothing with them. Christmas is a perfect time to really make full advantage of the pictures you take using the Instagram App so I've been having a look around at what you can do with your pictures: here are five ways to set your … [Read more...]
Beef Carbonnade with Mustard Damper Bread Dumplings
The temperature gauge read 0.5C as I left on the school run this week. To me, this is officially cold, so i'm breaking out the big guns and have been thinking about #WinterWarmer Recipes this week. So I have used mustard in this Carbonnade of Beef -essentially a stew with a posh French name- as well as in the Damper-Style dumplings that accompany it. Mustard is a great ingredient for adding warmth and flavour to a meat dish, especially meat. … [Read more...]
Secret Christmas Gifting with Not On The High Street
It seems that now the Holidays Are Coming, everyone is talking about Not Talking About Christmas. But last week I spent an entire evening on Not On The High Street (NOTHS)- an online marketplace that brings together 3,800 independent small UK businesses- diligent in my pursuit of the perfect Christmas Gift. The side benefit of my night on the site was that I have filled out my Birthday (Thanksgiving, if you were interested) and Christmas … [Read more...]
Tesco Mum of the Year 2014 Shortlist
My Saturday nights are taken up with watching Strictly Come Dancing. LBG, Dimples and I curl under the blanket on the sofa to be dazzled and amazed by the calibre of the dancing and the spectacle of the show, lighting and costumes. The bit that I like least is knowing that someone will get voted off: everyone works so hard on their routine and puts such effort in. I would hate to have to chose between two such dancers every week. I cannot imagine … [Read more...]
{Review} Afternoon Tea at The Cavendish Hotel
I have a fondness for Afternoon Tea. Ironic given that I don't drink tea, but I never know if it's the ceremony, the invitation to eat cake in the middle of the afternoon or the downright Britishness of the experience, but I do love it. DH, in fact, has treated me to Afternoon Tea on several occasions. So I thought that My Father, who was celebrating a Very Significant Birthday, might appreciate a Birthday Tea at The Cavendish Hotel to celebrate … [Read more...]
What can you pack in a Playaway Case?
Half-term in our house means House Swap, so we are readying ourselves for a trip to The Continent to spend some family time together. The older that The Girls get the easier it becomes to make ready. They insist on choosing their special things to go into their special suitcases, which I discovered last year at the Baby and Toddler Show. After I wrote the last post about the PlayAway Case, I had a couple of questions about what you could … [Read more...]
{Review} Sense Organic Pyjamas: an easy way to make a toddler even cuter
Dimples was beyond happy that she received some new pyjamas this week. She is the kid that is on the go from the moment she opens her eyes and asks 'is it not my school day today' until the moment she declares that she has 'had enough of being awake' and takes herself off to a quiet spot to sleep. I wish I were joking but the only one able to persuade her that it's time to sleep is herself. When she has had enough, you walk away ad leave her … [Read more...]
