Matilda Kelly is 2 years old. She suffers from Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, which means she is unable to walk unaided and has to rely on a walker. She loves to run, dance and play. Her parents are trying to raise £70,000 to take Matilda to America for corrective orthopaedic surgery that will improve her life immeasurably. It means that their little girl will be able to wear pretty shoes rather than the specially prescribed … [Read more...]
#healing4Kerry
Kerry from Multiple Mummy is not someone I have met. But I have seen a room of women rise to their feet- sobbing in most cases- to applaud her husband. He collected two awards in her name in September at the MAD Awards, not long after she suffered a Brain Hemorrhage. Sadly she is still in a critical condition. So tonight at 10pm, the blogging community will be downing tools- in some cases picking up chocolate- to send all the positive … [Read more...]
Children in Need cupcakes 2012
'Tis so the season to make cakes. Which is why I am happy to support Children in Need by baking some (read: many) for various fundraising cake stalls. Pampers and Unicef working together to stop MNT
If you are parents you will know how precious each life under your roof is. You will also know how many nappies you get through daily. So it may come as no surprise that UNICEF and Pampers are uniting, as they have every year since 2006, to highlight the threat that Maternal Newborn Tetanus (MNT) still presents across vast swathes of the globe. Maternal Newborn Tetanus is caused by the spores carried in the soil in the less … [Read more...]
No child should be left in the cold by rising fuel bills
LBG is home sick today: she has a temperature, a barking cough and has lost her voice. It's awful to hear her squeak. I know what it's like because I get laryngitis often enough. But when it's three-year-old, your three-year-old it's worse. So we are staying at home. I'm keeping her hydrated, dosing her with Calpol and Nurofen (following medical advice obviously) and have whacked on the heating to keep her warm. Because I can do that without … [Read more...]
