5 brilliant books written by bloggers

5 brilliant books written by bloggers

There is a symbiosis that exists between the world of blogging and the world of actual writing. There are many of us for whom blogging began as a way of honing writing skills, the next step on a path towards writing the book we've thought about writing for years. And there are many bloggers for whom writing a book has been a bi-product of writing a blog. For some bloggers, the dream of publication has become a reality and I am far more excited … [Read more...]

{Review} DK First Aid Manual

First Aid Manual book jacket

When LBG was born, I organised a First Aid Course through an awesome company that sent a nurse to our house. It was a little like a Tupperware Party: everyone came to us and we supplied drinks and nibbles. The babies slept in a collection of travel cots dotted around the house whilst we practised resuscitation downstairs on a doll version of the real-life babies we now possessed. It was simultaneously reassuring and terrifying, but we were all … [Read more...]

A Few Good Reads, July

A few good reads JUL2013

Zoe and Beans: Hello Oscar- the fifth in the series of Zoe and Beans, this book is written by the brilliant children's illustrator Mick Inkpen and his daughter Chloe. It tells the story of a hole in the garden fence which is letting some very exotic creatures through. But where are they coming from. Dimples loves this book- the graphics, as with all Inkpen books, are fabulous and appealing to all ages, and the story-line really helps foster … [Read more...]

A few good reads

So it may not have escaped your attention- if you follow me on twitter, Facebook or Instagram, that I have been on holiday in Italy this last week. The weather was unseasonably cool for the time of year, though still far warmer than the wet grey London we left behind, but I still had lots of time on the beach with the children. But when we were tucked away in our beautiful temporary home at ValleCoppa,  there was plenty of time to catch up on a) … [Read more...]

Red Ted Art wrote a book!

red ted art cute craft

Two years ago I got a tweet from Red Ted Art asking if I wanted to do a guest post on her blog. I remember the moment clearly because I laid the laptop down and ran around the sitting room squealing. DH was none the wiser when I tried to tell him that the Red Ted wanted me. Not only had she heard of me, but she'd got in touch and she wanted me. Fast forward to this evening as he just shrugged when I told him I was having a hangout with Maggy … [Read more...]

{Review} The Mummyfesto GIVEAWAY

Mummyfesto review

Written last week: I am in Galway without my Kindle. It is sunning itself on the Kent coast, forgotten in the rush to leave ahead of the snow last time that we were down there. We will be reunited in a couple of weeks, but what it does mean is that I am back to reading old-fashioned printed matter for the Half-Term break.   … [Read more...]

Good Reads: Completing the Puzzle

completing the puzzle

I absolutely devoured Amanda Egan's first two books. The story of Misfit Mummy kept me in thrall: I definitely identified with the school-run-mum wondering if she would fit in, trying to make friends, be involved with the school and do the best for her child. I felt her pain too, and delighted in her victories. She left a little Mummy-Misfit-shaped hole in my life when I was finished. Imagine, then, my joy when Amanda Egan released Completing … [Read more...]
