Now the summer holidays are here I am looking for things to keep the children busy and keep them outside. At least that's the theory- the heat of late means that they are spending most of the day inside and the early morning and evening outside. But 'outside' is a great place for kids to spend time: it's tiring, means they aren't messing up inside and helps them to see what is around them. Over the past year we have been Center Parcs Bloggers, … [Read more...]
Washing Up Liquid or Dish Soap Activities with Ecover
Ecover asked me if I wanted to test out some of their products after seeing my New Home Wreath and I was happy to say yes: what home doesn't need cleaning products? DH was skeptical when I handed him the household wipes the other day- asking if he would need half-a-packet to clean up a small mess. He made reference to when we last used Ecover about ten years ago. He ate his words- though not the wipe- since the wipes were more than able to clean … [Read more...]
{Why You Should} Visit Brogdale Farm
We spent the day at Brogdale Farm this weekend, for their annual Strawberry Festival. We rode the tractor-trail around the enormous orchards, we took a miniature train-journey in the sun. The Girls bounced madly on the bouncy castle before spending what felt like weeks in the craft tent, painting rocks and plates before worshipping at the altar of face-painting. We brought a picnic with us, which we ate in the shade of a hazelnut tree, … [Read more...]
{Review} Jumping Bean Bag Club and our June Interest Table
That table in our hallway has a monthly theme. I haven't posted one for a while but it made sense to post this month's as we were sent a Jumping Bean Bag pack which inspired the theme of 'activity'- perfectly timed as the weather is glorious, and I hope that it lasts! So, on the table, which is covered in chalkboard paper and there are chalks for drawing- something we often do on the outside patio, so I wanted to bring a little of that … [Read more...]
DH’s Day: Father’s Day 2013
The year has gone by so fast since I wrote my last Father's Day post bigging up DH for his supreme Fathering skills. It's a year that has seen him arrange a dozen home exchanges, including the most amazing trip to Arizona. We spent Christmas in Prague and are off to spend summer half-term in Italy. In between times there has been Indoor Camping, outdoor camping, Center Parcs and a whole lot of family time down at the Beach House. There are big … [Read more...]
How to make a number 5 door hanging from a cardboard box
In many ways making a number five from a corrugated cardboard box is very simple. It's the decorating that was time-consuming. But you can use this basic model to make either a pinata or a door hanging to celebrate any birthday. 1. chop up your cardboard box. I took off the sides and bottom. With corrugated card you have to think about the grain and how you will use it. 2. Cut two large number 5's from the largest … [Read more...]
Three Days Film- the crowdfunded rom-com everyone wants to make
Sitting in a dark room on a sunny evening not everyone's idea of a good time but I was at the Langley Park Centre for the Performing Arts to see a short film about a short film. Vanessa Bailey, Bromley-based actress, has co-written and crowd-funded the trailer for Three Days, a rom-com about trying not to fall in love. And carrot cake. Three Days was an idea of hers borne out of frustration of a lack of female parts for 'older' women … [Read more...]
