Monday: which seems like a very long time ago now, was a usual kind of Monday. Dimples was extraordinarily tired and ended up sleeping all the way through my shopping experience, waking only as I popped her in the car for the school run. I did get to eat my lunch in peace though so there's a silver lining! The sunset after I picked up LBG was divine: we spotted colours all the way home, and finally decorated our Christmas Tree. It lights up our … [Read more...]
Advent Activity Calendar 2013
This is what December 2013 will look like at the new DG residence, DG Cottage: plenty of fun, a few traditions, a few activities we hope to make into traditions, and a sprinkling of Christmas Spirit every single day. Feel free to follow along with us and email or tweet us pictures of what you are up to using the #adventactivity hashtag or tagging @domesticgoddesq on twitter or Instagram. I have an Advent Activity Board on … [Read more...]
Fingerprint Poppy Craft
Sometimes simple ideas are the best. I was putting together a post on Remembrance Day Crafts at the weekend, when Dimples looked over my shoulder. She asked if she could make a poppy from 'dots', which I discovered meant our Bingo Dabbers, which have lain unused since we moved. So I got them out and she dabbed plenty of little flowers from 'dots'. Whilst my back was turned she, of course, covered her hands in red bingo dabber. … [Read more...]
{Review} Afternoon Tea at The Cavendish Hotel
I have a fondness for Afternoon Tea. Ironic given that I don't drink tea, but I never know if it's the ceremony, the invitation to eat cake in the middle of the afternoon or the downright Britishness of the experience, but I do love it. DH, in fact, has treated me to Afternoon Tea on several occasions. So I thought that My Father, who was celebrating a Very Significant Birthday, might appreciate a Birthday Tea at The Cavendish Hotel to celebrate … [Read more...]
What can you pack in a Playaway Case?
Half-term in our house means House Swap, so we are readying ourselves for a trip to The Continent to spend some family time together. The older that The Girls get the easier it becomes to make ready. They insist on choosing their special things to go into their special suitcases, which I discovered last year at the Baby and Toddler Show. After I wrote the last post about the PlayAway Case, I had a couple of questions about what you could … [Read more...]
{Review} Sense Organic Pyjamas: an easy way to make a toddler even cuter
Dimples was beyond happy that she received some new pyjamas this week. She is the kid that is on the go from the moment she opens her eyes and asks 'is it not my school day today' until the moment she declares that she has 'had enough of being awake' and takes herself off to a quiet spot to sleep. I wish I were joking but the only one able to persuade her that it's time to sleep is herself. When she has had enough, you walk away ad leave her … [Read more...]
Day of the Dead spoon craft
When Red Ted Art challenged me to make a Day of the Dead craft I had no idea where to start. I knew nothing about Day of the Dead. But I did some research and checked out the Dia de los Muertos crafts on Pinterest and it gave me an idea to make super easy 'shrunken heads' from plastic spoons. I say shrunken heads because I made them with disposable teaspoons, but you could make larger ones using dessert spoons. All you need is a few disposable … [Read more...]
