I'm celebrating Small victories with Belvita #morningwin Belvita entered my life when I was house-hunting. Mornings are always such a rush, getting The Girls ready for school, feeding the dog, kissing DH goodbye. I rarely have chance for more than a cup of coffee before we head out of the door for school and whilst I was in search of our Forever Home, that meant leaving The Girls promptly, driving down the M20 and looking at houses- … [Read more...]
GoldieBlox rocks our world
I've been following the story of GoldieBlox for a while. The toys for future innovators is the brain child of Debbie Sterling, who saw a need in the Pink Aisle of the toy store for an alternative, despite being told by leading toymakers that engineering toys for girls don't sell. As a parent of two girls I have been trying to find a balance between Barbie- and you should read Frog Mom's thoughts on the plastic phenomenon- and Meccano, which … [Read more...]
Preventing Summer Slide with a #KidsintheKitchen summer pack
I am almost halfway through the summer holidays, and filling our #60DaysofSummer has not been too bad so far. We made a trip to Peppa Pig World, stayed with friends and visited Cadbury World as well as The Stratford Butterfly Farm and are just back from a few days in France with family: lots of swimming for small children and wine for Mamma. There's still another thirty days to go until 3rd September though so it's helpful that Betta Living … [Read more...]
Review: European Microscooter Vacation
I don't know a family without a scooter. It's the perfect transition from pushchair to walking and means that you can still get to places at a reasonable rather than painful walking pace. LBG has had her Mini-Micro Scooter since her second birthday. It probably took her a year to master the art of scooting but since then (and since her sister got one for her second birthday) they have lived in the back of the car. Wherever we go, they … [Read more...]
May 2014
1. A day at Squerryes tasting their new Sparkling. There's still time to get tickets to the Squerryes Celebration on 20th and 21st June to taste it- and the amazing Westerham Brewery Beers, yourself. 2. Dimples and I picked up five new chooks: Kiev, Katsu, Korma, Cassie and Popcorn. 3. Lego with breakfast: Daddy returns from a week away at work with gifts! 4. We take a trip to Riverhill Gardens to check out the birthday party … [Read more...]
Childhood running free: our holiday in Northern Norway
Up until recently we were living in the centre of a busy London Borough on a main road. My children never went beyond the front door without me. They never ventured beyond my line of sight. This, more than anything, is the experience that has informed all our holiday decisions. We go camping, stay on farms, walk along beaches. We give them experiences: the chance to run free, barefoot, past their bedtime. The chance to feed lambs in their pjs. … [Read more...]
Dora The Explorer Craft Party Ideas
Dimples was very clear when she had her party that she wanted a Dora Craft Party. I came up with some simple Dora themed Party decor for the areas of the house that we were using. I put together a colouring and activity pack by printing pages from internet searches on the internet. These kept the children busy until everyone arrived. We made Toilet roll binoculars for the main craft. Once the children had finished their … [Read more...]
