Roll a Reindeer
The Roll-a-Reindeer idea came off the back of my summer roll-a-sandcastle craft which was a big hit with my Girls. It's one of those incredibly versatile games that helps with numeracy and co-ordination, so it's the perfect thing for long winter nights. I simply cut the necessary shapes from felt, and used an A5 felt piece to stick the pieces onto: by using felt it made the game reusable, which is ideal for Dimples, who begged to play … [Read more...]
Our Advent Activity Calendar 2012- now with added linky!
Last year I followed an idea I'd seen for an Advent Activity Calendar. It was their first Advent Calendar and worked really well for us: in addition to them getting a treat every day, we got to do a fun activity or craft that really cemented the notion that Christmas was more than simply gifts. And so I have put together a similar calendar for this year, including activities that I have already booked that the children don't know about. We are … [Read more...]
How to make a Gingerbread House from a cardboard box
We got back from the school run last Monday to find a rather large delivery. The large delivery was, in itself, very dull. But it came in a large box with a lot of bubblewrap. So, after lunch, we put the box- along with a second smaller, document box- to good use and made a Gingerbread House. … [Read more...]
Center Parcs Challenge: design a water ride

Our girls are really enjoying the swimming that they are doing lately, and over breakfast one morning, they and DH pooled ideas. I drew the short straw, literally, as I was in charge of translating them to paper. This is what we came up … [Read more...]
366 Week 43
So, even my dodgy maths makes it less than 10 weeks until the end of the year. I will have managed to take- and post regular updates as evidence- a picture every single day. And I thought I had no willpower. Sunday: we woke in North Holland to a lot of fog. The house we were staying in was tucked away surrounded by trees and wildlife and it was enough for us all just to be. So that's all we did, save for a trip in to Schagen for hot chocolates … [Read more...]
Painted Pine Cone Door Hanging
That crafty Red Ted Art set a challenge recently to get crafting with nature. Obviously I pointed to the fabulous Autumn Nature Wreath that Dimples and I made, but she demanded that I do better. So I did. Dimples and I had cause to stay inside one day. Rain- bleurgh. But I had some fabulous new metallic acrylic paints that I was eager to use and a bowl of pinecones we had garnered weeks earlier when out and about. So we painted them. … [Read more...]
