{kids in the kitchen} How to make a Brazilian flag sandwich.

Brazilian flag in a sandwich

Remember how we are on a journey Around the World in 12 Dishes? Well we are spending  this month in Brazil (metaphorically- in actual fact we are in Bromley. But they both begin with a 'br' so there's that!) Because The Girls are advancing their independence in the kitchen, I took a different approach to this month's challenge. I gave them the tools and the project and helped when asked. And they learned how to make a Brazilian Open … [Read more...]

2 Ingredient dough: cheesy dough balls

easy peasy cheesy dough balls

Now I think about it, I should have called this post 3-ingredient dough balls, since that is all it requires: Greek yogurt- I used TOTAL, which has a great consistency for this kind of dough making. Self-raising flour Cheese. I developed it whilst using the last of my 2-Ingredient breadstick dough. Make the dough up according to the instructions: half the mixture made about 8 balls, so I would guess that a full batch would make … [Read more...]

Easy Peasy Pesto Pizza

pesto pizza bread

You remember the two ingredient breadsticks that Dimples and I made last week? This week we made dough again only we actually made 2-ingredient pizzas this time. We mixed and kneaded and then I discovered a total lack of tomato puree so instead we made Pesto Pizza Bread. Its very simple. You use pesto in place of the tomato base. Sprinkle with cheese then bake as you would a pizza. Delicious. And so very easy. … [Read more...]

How to make 2 ingredient breadsticks

2 ingredient breadsticks

Last week Dimples and I didn't feel like leaving the house, and spent the morning in front of CBeebies and learning about numbers and letters and screaming from the rooftops when Show Me, Show Me! started. So when I looked at the clock and Dimples demanded to pizza for lunch I had a momentary panic until I remembered seeing a post about 2-ingredient Pizza Dough, undoubtedly on Pinterest. I obviously didn't pin it, so just Googled the term and can … [Read more...]

No-Bake Pumpkin “Cake-Pops” for Halloween

Pumpkin no bake marshmallow pops

It's only a month until half-term and Halloween, which means it's time for me to start planning our Annual Pumpkin Party. I had an idea for a no-bake pumpkin cake-pop after seeing my daughters toast marshmallows on our last camping trip, so I wanted to test it out. I'm very pleased with my pumpkin cake-pops, and the Girls even more, because they can help make them. You need: marshmallows lollipop sticks orange candy melts, or … [Read more...]

Around the World in 12 Dishes: Australia

how to make damper bread

Pavlova, Anzac biscuits, Lamingtons, BBQ shrimp : these are the foods I associate with Oz, based primarily on my former love of the hit soap opera Home and Away. I thought about making one of these for the latest leg of the 12 Dishes tour, but we're away from home, in someone else's home, so I thought  should keep it simple. And Damper bread really is simple to make. Originally made with flour and water, this bread was made by the Jackaroos on … [Read more...]
