Ten+ Snow Globe Crafts and how to make a tabletop snow globe

snow globe craft round up ten ideas

There is something about Christmas and snow-globes that go together very well. It's probably the snow. I'm pointing out the obvious, so lets just move on, shall we? I love and adore my daughter, but I do not trust her with a jar full of liquid and glitter. So she and I created a snow-free Nativity scene using a cake stand, nativity set and fibre-optic Christmas trees and snow that I got from Poundland. I used the cake stand as a template to cut … [Read more...]

Handmade Christmas: Ring Bowls

handmade clay ring bowl

This winter I wanted to make something pretty but very simple, that I could give to my mother and mother-in-law for Christmas. To make these little ring bowls, you will need: air drying clay rolling pin doily of piece of lace acrylic paint Mod Podge (or clear varnish)   Firstly, soften your clay: air-drying clay has an odd texture and it needs working a lot to really soften it. Once softened, roll out … [Read more...]

How to make a Gingerbread House from a cardboard box

how to make a gingerbread house from a cardboard box

We got back from the school run last Monday to find a rather large delivery. The large delivery was, in itself, very dull. But it came in a large box with a lot of bubblewrap. So, after lunch, we put the box- along with a second smaller, document box- to good use and made a Gingerbread House. … [Read more...]

Coloured melting bead Diwas: Diwali craft

hama fusible bead diwas

We were very lucky to be introduced to Hama Beads recently. We've made dogs and princesses and pumpkins but wanted to branch out a little. Diwali fills the post-Halloween Pumpkinfest void perfectly, so it seemed a good idea to use the melting beads to make Diwas. LBG really enjoyed making our saltdough Diwas last year. Following instructions from Creative Jewish Mom, LBG and I filled an oiled bowl with Hama beads and baked them until they were … [Read more...]

Poppy Remembrance Day Craft and Linky

remembrance poppy garland craft

You know how, if you stare at something for long enough, an idea comes to you? My very easy Pumpkin garland has been hanging in the kitchen for the past three weeks so I get to look at it repeatedly throughout the day. Then suddenly, it came to me: a poppy craft for Remembrance Day that is so very simple to make. It goes like this. Try to keep up won't you? You take a length of red crepe banner and concertina it for what feels like ever. … [Read more...]
