Crikey, where did July go? I'm well into the summer holidays now, and I think we've developed a routine at DG Manor, though don't go quoting me on that. The holidays have been a great excuse for doing more stuff I've found across the interweb and been inspired by. PD and I are currently working on her letters and numbers, so this where I live project at Teach Mama has been perfect for the letter I, in addition to teaching my little big girl … [Read more...]
How to make a paper plate pocket watch: a Thomas Cook Kids Club Competition entry
I hate it when someone throws down the gauntlet at me. I am a person who is incapable of saying “No!” Fortunately, the advantage of the challenge Maggy at RedTed set me is that I get to spend time with my children. We get to spend time together making stuff. And in return for the making of fun stuff with my Girls, there is a chance that we may win a big stash of goodies thanks to Thomas Cook. Thus I found myself downloading one of the stories … [Read more...]
Inspired by….June
June has been an odd month, primarily because I sent two weeks of it tucked away in a sunny corner of Mallorca without adequate internet access, but that didn't mean we didn't get things done. To keep the girls busy en route, I took a leaf from Activity Mom's book and printed out some fabulous Mr Potato Heads. It won't shock you to learn that the actual potato head was quickly forgotten in favour of making a Mr-Bunny-Head, Mr-Fridge-Head, … [Read more...]
How to make a snake bookmark from a tie: Father’s Day Craft

Easy Father’s Day Crafts
Inspired by Maggy at Red Ted Art and Robinsons, we've been making a Squash Monster pen holder for DH's day. I used spray paint to give the inside a ghoulish purple tint, then coated the outside in chalkboard spray, which means that whilst he is making dull business calls, DH can doodle monster faces with chalk. Give it a quick wipe and you can start all over again. Oh, and this particular Monster's favourite treats are … [Read more...]

May was a good month. A busy month. Actually every month is a busy month. I like doing things with my children. I like finding new things to do online. I am beginning to like learning, despite the fact that finals made me fear ever having to learn anything ever again. It's nice. So, this month I made a rainbow cake for PD's birthday. It was inspired by all the rainbow-based foodstuffs I saw across the internet in the run-up to St Patrick's … [Read more...]
Coloured rice and I spy bottles
I was looking around slightly vaguely for Kidling crafts on the interweb a couple of days ago when I came across these fabulous I-Spy-Bottles and just knew I had to make them. We spend every weekend in the car driving back and forth to the Kent Coast, and I am always on the lookout for easy ways to keep them entertained in the car. There's nothing worse than spending most of your journey twisting round from the front seat reaching for things … [Read more...]
