Week 21 started well: The Girls and I headed up to town to watch A Monster in Paris with Granny and we had a fabulous time, but boy were we exhausted when we got home. They are currently redesigning Bromley South Station to include lifts and I tell you they cannot come soon enough: I've spent the past four years schlepping pushchairs up and down the stairs to the train and I will be so grateful not to have to do it any more. No doubt by the time … [Read more...]

Project 366 Week Nineteen
After the events of Saturday rendered us car-less we had to rethink our plans for the Bank Holiday weekend. After consultation with LBG, we elected to go swimming en famille on Sunday. First hurdle- local swimming baths (do people still call them that?) were closed so we rode the bus to Beckenham where- wouldn't you know it- the queues were twice as long because of the aforementioned closure. So we missed the baby pool slot and had to go in the … [Read more...]

At the risk of sounding desperately British, the wet weather, much needed, is beginning to get me down a little. Sunday brought more rain and so we took Baby Poppy to the Play Barny, where a fabulous time was had by all. Home for some lunch then we got on the road- save a brief stop at the beach- to get back to Bromley in time for more soft-play, this time at Adventure Kingdom where The Girls' friends (also our Godchildren, or The Godlings as … [Read more...]
Project 366 Week Seventeen
Lets see what's happened this week, shall we? We met with family on Sunday, managing to sneak a picnic and a walk around the grounds of Sheffield Hall between some fairly epic rain storms. Big thanks go to the Weather Gods who let us enjoy a really lovely few hours playing hide and seek in the undergrowth, jumping off gargantuan logs and chasing swans. The rain continued unabated on Monday morning and we girls were in no rush to leave the … [Read more...]

I always knew that once people started talking about drought restrictions, we would be in for a spell of rain, so I'm not complaining. Rather I am trying not to. What you really don't need for the last week of the Easter holidays is the kind of rain that keeps you indoors. Fortunately for us, the rain held off long enough on Sunday that we could visit our Cherry Tree and enjoy a delicious Hog Roast. Part of our Rent-a-Cherry-Tree package is a … [Read more...]

Who doesn't love a holiday? Even in Britain, where the weather can be unpredictable? And we have been having a ball in rain and shine this week in Suffolk. Last year, Easter weekend at Potash Barns was absurdly warm: I think we had to do laundry every day because I hadn't packed many summery clothes for The Girls. This week I found myself begging DH if I could step into Joules and buy myself a sweater (OK, I just wanted a new Joules sweater, but … [Read more...]
