There's a meme going round at the moment and, though I haven't been tagged, I thought I'd join in anyway (cue me being blackballed by the blogging community for having such temerity.) It's amazingly hard to just pick one picture, since I have so many that conjour memories good and bad. Facebook is a very good source for hideous school pics, uploaded by old friends, to make me laugh. My wedding album in it's entirity would make a favourite, as … [Read more...]
Heavens to Liberty
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a caption competition on Dulwich Mum's blog (I will gloss over the fact that I appear to have won it because I was the only person sober enough the week before Christmas to come up with a clean caption and focus on the fact that I am clearly, despite being hugely pregnant, witty and amusingly clever.) The Pocket Dictator was the lucky recipient last week of her fabulous Freya Bean blouse (teamed here with … [Read more...]
Monday Madness
Picture credit My life is no longer my own. Evidence:1. I have a To Do list a page and a half long. My brain has turned to mush so if I don't write it down, it's forgotten in a breath. 2. I know I have feet and toes. I just can't see them. I can't remember the last time I had a pedicure, because it's been so long since I've been able to get up on the beautician's couch.3. You can no longer find my belly button: my tummy looks like a giant boob … [Read more...]
Snowstruck
Yesterday I saw the first glimpse of green grass in over a week and went to bed giddy with excitement at the prospect of leaving the house for the first time since the New Year. DH burst my bubble at 4am when he announced that it was snowing again, so this morning I once more found myself facing a day indoors. I stood in the Wet Room (the lean-to we have at the back of the house that the Estate Agents laughingly referred to as a Garden Room) and … [Read more...]
Sweet spiced cookies on a snowy day.
When the snow is falling, I end up raiding the kitchen to find things to do with the Pocket Dictator. She loves being in her FunPod and helping me whilst I cook, so a lump of leftover pastry was the perfect thing to focus our attention on. In actual fact it was pastry that I used to make mince pies at Christmas, the leftovers of which I had just used to make a Mincemeat tart, so I've been feeling quite DG about the fact that I made something so … [Read more...]
A 2009 retrospective
You get to Christmas and when people have stopped talking about presents and shopping and asking "are you ready?" they ask the classic rhetorical question: where did this year go? I wondered the same thing at 4am when I was lying awake being kicked by the Jumping Bean. I didn't really get into blogging until late in the year, so figured I'd share 2009 with you:JanuaryThe last blog. Barack takes office and I go back to work, leaving the Pocket … [Read more...]
It’s started….he’s on his way.
It's that time of year again. DH has gone out with the PD to pick up the Turkey (and buy my gifts, no doubt). I'm at home, struck down by Tonsillitis, although even if I wasn't the remaining snow/ice would keep me indoors: I'm fairly confident that SPD and crutches do not go well with snow/ice. I've had a good feel of the few gifts under the tree that bear my name and the multitude we've received for the PD. And I'm being waited on by a plethora … [Read more...]
