Cybher 2012: meet, greet and what I may be wearing

Cybher 2012 what I'm wearing

I'm going to be spending Saturday without children. In London. With a whole bunch of people that I've never met before. I was hoping to float in under the radar, sit on the sidelines and vanish. Turns out I picked the wrong conference. Whilst Blogcamp London- which I went to last year- was wonderfully comforting with it's cake and converse, it would appear that Cybher is going all-out in the fashion stakes. And I do not go all-out in the fashion … [Read more...]

Project 366 Week Eighteen

being rescued

At the risk of sounding desperately British, the wet weather, much needed, is beginning to get me down a little. Sunday brought more rain and so we took Baby Poppy to the Play Barny, where a fabulous time was had by all. Home for some lunch then we got on the road- save a brief stop at the beach- to get back to Bromley in time for more soft-play, this time at Adventure Kingdom where The Girls' friends (also our Godchildren, or The Godlings as … [Read more...]

Finding the right children’s birthday card

LBG got an invitation recently for a birthday party two months hence. Whilst this is not uncommon in our parts-the soft-play facilities are booked up years in advance in the same way that wedding venues are- it still put the fear of God into me. I couldn't help feeling, as I stood at the school gates that first day, that everyone was part of The Club except me, you see. They all knew what they were doing, what kit was needed when, what the … [Read more...]

Hand-painted flowerpot gifts

painted plant pot Mother's Day gift

We made these painted plant pots for Easter, but they would also make great gifts for Mother's Day, her birthday or a Teacher Appreciation Gift.   I work very hard to come up with hand-made items for my Little Misses to give to their grandparents on high days and holidays. I like to think that they appreciate the thought and are happy to show off these items to friends. I am buried daily by a flurry of 'art' that they bring home from … [Read more...]

Project 366 Week Seventeen

peekaboo

Lets see what's happened this week, shall we? We met with family on Sunday, managing to sneak a picnic and a walk around the grounds of Sheffield Hall between some fairly epic rain storms. Big thanks go to the Weather Gods who let us enjoy a really lovely few hours playing hide and seek in the undergrowth, jumping off gargantuan logs and chasing swans. The rain continued unabated on Monday morning and we girls were in no rush to leave the … [Read more...]

A week in tweets

So, BritMums have prompted people to follow in the footsteps of the brilliant Slummy Single Mummy (who is not remotely slummy, I have noticed) and write a post in tweets. You would think it would be pretty easy, but let's face it, if I scroll back through my tweets, I discover that I am a shallow individual who has biscuits for breakfast with a fruit chaser and calls it a balanced meal. … [Read more...]

How to make a Russian Icon

making a Russian Icon

LBG and I are really enjoying our trip around the World in the company of Glittering Muffins and others. This month we're off to Russia. And when we were looking at Artists and Art for the Kid's Art project a few days ago, we came across some Russian Icons, which LBG loved, and thought that we should get one. She likes sparkly things. Given that Icons are a little beyond our budget, we made one instead, using: black card leftover gold foil … [Read more...]
