...I got married dawned clear and bright, which was great news because it had snowed during the week and I had visions of us getting married by ourselves because everyone was stranded by the weather. DH and I were a little hungover from the Rehearsal Dinner, hosted at the Royal College of Surgeons the night before. We headed out of our hotel to find a greasy spoon, where I tucked into my last All Day Breakfast as a single woman and DH gingerly … [Read more...]
Roll a sandcastle
At Christmas time, I adapted this Roll-a-Snowman game for The Girls: British snowmen tend to be drawn with two circles, not three, don't you know?! It was a really fun activity and we will definitely do it again this winter. I used cotton make-up remover pads, and a lot of winter-themed stickers to make it easier for The Girls. Recently though, I needed something to keep my Little Misses busy whilst DH and I sorted out the Beach House. So I … [Read more...]
If I were editing 50 Shades of Grey
Yes, I've read it. I've read all three books in the much-talked-about trilogy. Nothing appeals to me more than Mummy Porn. Not that I knew there was Mummy Porn until I started reading 50 Shades of Grey. Who thought that up? It's an annoying categorisation because it does a disservice to those of us who have children. Are we so special, so cotton-wool-brained, that we need our very own brand of porn? Are we not the right readership for real … [Read more...]
Project 366 week 29
The first week of the school holidays is gone, and we've had little time to be still, though mornings have started slightly later and without the sense of urgency that goes hand-in-hand with school mornings. On Sunday, despite the mixed weather, we had a fun hour or two on the beach burying each other in the sand. DH and I actively encouraged graffiti of the sea wall when we realised that LBG could write actual words. All week we've kept asking … [Read more...]
Japanese peg dolls.
When Around the World in 12 dishes landed in Japan, LBG was working on her Indian Peacock. I gathered a few images in my 'likes' on Pinterest, and we had great fun looking through them a few days later. She, unsurprisingly, was taken with anything that related to Hello Kitty, but was most struck by the Japanese ladies in kimonos. … [Read more...]
How to make a Coffee Filter Peacock
Around the World in 12 Dishes recently visited India and DG Manor feasted on Kedgeree for a full 48 hours. Unsurprisingly it was a while before we got round to the craft, but this only worked in our favour, since the rain helped, rather than hindered, our crafting. So we learned how to make a Coffee Filter Peacock. … [Read more...]
Project 366 Week 28
Otherwise known as the week we said goodbye to Kindergarten, the week started with rain, and ended with sun. It started with us striking camp in the rain (and waiting four days for it to be dry so that we could air out the tent) and ended it burying small people in sand on the beach. Sunday saw us come home from camping, tired, a little grubby, wet and in love with each other. Our trip was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together as a … [Read more...]
