A couple of weeks ago, one of Mari's posts caught my eye: she found a great list of things your children should do before starting Kindergarten. As DH was peering over my shoulder, we printed off a copy of the list and set to work seeing whether we had provided our children with productive Pre-School years*. And it turns out that in terms of experiences and achievements, our Little Misses are well-placed for when they start back in … [Read more...]
Things to do in Phoenix with children
Did I mention we are in Arizona? On a House Exchange? Did I also mention the pool? The Monster Truck? Don't get me started on the supermarket baking aisles will you? Travelling with children is always challenging, particularly when they are quite young. I try not to think about the last time we travelled to America. With a baby and a two-year-old. By the end of the flight I wanted to gouge my eyes out, especially when someone, as … [Read more...]
Olympic Sports that baffle me
The London Olympics, or at least the coverage that we are seeing in the USA (I think Expat Mum expresses the frustration at NBC's coverage of the XXX Olympiad far better than I) is utterly compelling to watch. I wish, of course, that we could see more of the British competitors, but DH and I are incredibly proud of the show that is the 2012 Olympic Games. What I love about the Olympics is that you get to watch a whole range of sporting events … [Read more...]

5 fun Olympic Logo crafts

I love Wikipedia! It would have been helpful if someone had pointed out to me slightly earlier that the logo is not just a bit of mindless graffiti, but actually the numbers 2, 0, 1 and 2. Anyway, since the whole 'spherical objects' crafts have been … [Read more...]
Intermission
Whilst you are reading this, I am in transit, somewhere between London Heathrow and Phoenix, Arizona. We're following the Vegemite Vixen Supreme's example and bailing out whilst the Great British Sporting Event is on. But we do, bizarrely, play a small part, though we are not in London. Because whilst we are not in our home, another family is. That family are supporting a member of their family, who is competing in the BMX event at London … [Read more...]
Lighting the Flame
I'm joining in 'Kids Bloggers Go Olympics' is 18 days of child centered fun! Hosted by RainyDayMum Sun Hats & Wellie Boots & AngeliqueFelix.com After 70 days of travelling the length and breadth of the United Kingdom, carried by a staggering 8000 people, the flame (and the convoy team of approximately 300 people) finally stopped moving at the Opening Ceremony of the Games of the XXX Olympiad ("known informally as London 2012".) … [Read more...]
