The Back to School Essentials List

stabilo EASyoriginal review

It's that time of year. Don't panic, I'm not talking about Christmas (although you really should be making a list so that you allow yourself enough time to check it twice *ahem*). I refer to the day that most parents come to really value as a yearly high: Back to School. I know it's awful to say but I am exhausted by the antics of my children and am metaphorically counting the hours. What I am actually doing is ticking things off a list (told … [Read more...]

TP Didgeridoo and Australian dot art

how to make a didgeridoo

Our recent (online) trip to Australia got DH to talking about his year in Sydney. The word didgeridoo had them both giggling, so I found an image online to explain what one was. Then we were required to demonstrate the sound it made. Quite frankly the easiest thing to do was to make a didgeridoo from an old toilet roll tube. … [Read more...]

Capture the Colour

I've been tagged to Capture the Colour with travelsupermarket.com, and jumped at the chance to show off more of our amazing holiday in Arizona, in colour!   Blue: the moment our formerly pool-phobic two-year-old realised that water was brilliant for jumping in. The pool in our backyard was perfect for cooling down in the 120F heat, although at one point it felt more like a warm bath. We had such fun as a family in that, and other … [Read more...]

Drawing competition

LBG's ability to draw recognisable figures has improved immeasurably over the last academic year. Actually, I have all her drawings so it's probably not immeasurable at all, but DH and I have certainly been astounded by her efforts of late. She is such a little art bug, always drawing and writing. So when The Handpicked Collection told us about their drawing competition, she got busy with her felt tips. The competition is open to under 10's … [Read more...]

40+ ideas for how to keep children occupied on long journeys

travelling with kids: things to keep them busy

I recently travelled with two pre-schoolers to Arizona: that's a seven hour flight followed by a five hour flight. Twelve hours in a limited space where sound carries really well. But we survived (I'm drafting this before our return trip so may yet need to edit!) and this is what I packed to keep the Girls occupied on board and on our week-long road trip in the middle of our holiday. mini pots of Playdough stickers: so many stickers, … [Read more...]
