When the people from Big Game Hunter sent us a set of giant dominoes, I could have cried. Not with disappointment but with joy. LBG had been diagnosed with Shingles and was desperately sad to be excluded from school when she felt perfectly fine. In fact she was so well, she spent all day playing with the dominoes. There is no doubt that the Giant Dominoes are more versatile … [Read more...]
{kids in the kitchen} How to make a Brazilian flag sandwich.
Remember how we are on a journey Around the World in 12 Dishes? Well we are spending this month in Brazil (metaphorically- in actual fact we are in Bromley. But they both begin with a 'br' so there's that!) Because The Girls are advancing their independence in the kitchen, I took a different approach to this month's challenge. My very easy Pumpkin garland has been hanging in the kitchen for the past three weeks so I get to look at it repeatedly throughout the day. Then suddenly, it came to me: a poppy craft for Remembrance Day that is so very simple to make. It goes like this. Try to keep up won't you? You take a length of red crepe banner and concertina it for what feels like ever. … [Read more...]
Things to do in London with children this half-term
I was reminded today of how lucky I am to live on the doorstep of London, with all the distraction and entertainment that it offers. When I was younger and based in Yorkshire, London was a place filled with mystery and excitement. If you have a trip planned to make the most of the half-term break, then allow me to make a few suggestions of things to do: 1. Lunch at the Kensington Hotel: set back from the madness around South Kensington station … [Read more...]
