Yet again July 4th is round the corner, and it's time to celebrate Independence Day. Not for me, you understand, since I am very much still part of the Commonwealth, but in recognition of Uncle Neal, who is in America, with Aunty Britt and cousins Leo and Isabel. It's great that we can do crafts here in the UK to make the connection with our fanily across the pond stronger. So here are three great ways that we have used to make … [Read more...]

Mother
Mother's Day was designed for staying in bed. It was a Sunday after all, and if she'd done enough drinking the night before, chances were it would be lunchtime before she even surfaced. Add in a big-enough hangover and you could guarantee that darkness would have fallen before she was recovered sufficiently- swaddled on the sofa in front of Friends repeats on some miscellaneous satellite channel, nursing a vat of sweetened builder's tea and … [Read more...]
How to make cupcake cookies
Cupcake Belle came to visit DG Manor this week, bringing with her a delightful selection of pink baking tools and the promise of fun in the kitchen. Sadly she visited on the day that my Girls decided baking was 'boring' and could they play Lacrosse in the garden with Daddy? (How middle-class do I sound right now?) {Vitamix} Cocktail recipe: The King’s Peach
I was unexpectedly sent a few samples of iced tea from Hampstead Tea. The warm weather and my new Vitamix made me think I should use them in cocktails. And so I did. The countdown to summer holidays
The countdown has begun for us: we're into the second half of summer term and I am madly trying to plan things to keep The Girls occupied for the nine weeks that they get. Our actual holiday- the one DH has booked time off for- has been in the diary for nine months. We are very excited to be heading to Norway to camp in the night-time sun. The Girls are less enthused. They have friends who have booked a great August holiday this year: they've … [Read more...]
DH’s Day: Father’s Day 2013
The year has gone by so fast since I wrote my last Father's Day post bigging up DH for his supreme Fathering skills. It's a year that has seen him arrange a dozen home exchanges, including the most amazing trip to Arizona. We spent Christmas in Prague and are off to spend summer half-term in Italy. In between times there has been Indoor Camping, outdoor camping, Center Parcs and a whole lot of family time down at the Beach House. There are big … [Read more...]
