I recently found a great pin- a questionnaire about Mummy. As we were spending time at the table anyway, I asked my girls the questions and these are the answers I got. [I couldn't help myself from commenting in square parentheses.] 1. What is something that Mamma always says to you? Can I kiss you forever? - Both [I do. It's my most fabourite game.] 2. What makes Mamma happy? When we tidy our beds beautifully - … [Read more...]
15 Tips for talking to children about death
Last Friday we learned the sad news that my Uncle had died. Whilst he is not a relative we see regularly, he is my family and I will attend the funeral this week and will be taking Dimples with me. Which of course, means talking to my children about the topic of death. LBG is five and Dimples is three, so I don't expect them to get the intricacies but, for their own sake as well as the grieving family, it would be prudent to give them a few … [Read more...]
Let Us Tell You a Story- Part Two
You played Consequences as a child, didn't you? The game where every person writes a line to the story- only having seen the preceeding line- and at the end you all sit and read it out and have a jolly good laugh? Well this isn't like that. Cereal Box Craft: Mini Doctor’s Kit
I was recently challenged to get crafty with a cereal box. It can be quite tricky when you are given a product with which to craft. You have to look at it for a while and mull it over. Anthea at Zing Zing Tree is a great advocate for this approach to craft and comes up with some amazing things. I tend to have a reactive approach to crafting. My girls have an obsession with bags. They love carrying things around in anything, whether it is a … [Read more...]
Moving on
For the past few months things have been a little fraught at DG Manor. We have been negotiating and hoping and praying that we would be able to buy a new house, sell ours, move The Girls to a new school. It's been like trying to sort out a Rubik's cube: there have definitely been days where it felt further away than ever. But at lunchtime on Friday we received the news. Which means I have five working days to plan and orchestrate 'Moving … [Read more...]
