Rainbow birthday crown
You may recall a couple of years ago that Dimples had a wonderfully colourful rainbow birthday party which was loved by all who came. Now that we are past Christmas the first family Event on the horizon is her fourth birthday party. This year the theme is Dora the Explorer, with a bit of craft and lots of fun thrown in, I hope. You'll see some posts about this fairly soon. But I'm starting with the birthday crown for her actual birthday, which … [Read more...]
Have you heard of Honkopoly?
"This one time, on the Team Honk Relay..." In all likelihood this is a phrase that you will be hearing a lot in the future. The Holy Trinity of Annie, Tanya and Penny that brought us Postcards from Ghana, and climbing Snowdon with red pants on your head last year have joined forces with the evil genius that is Sports Relief with a plan so daring, so awesome, so utterly crazy that I had to be a part of it. Melted Candy Cane Lollipops

Which didn't work either. Whatevs. I scooped up the gloop that slipped out from the mould when I took it off too early, using a … [Read more...]
Three Crafts for Burn’s Night

That doesn't stop me wanting to share three great Crafts you can make for Burn's Night with your children, though! 1. Haggis Craft: what could be easier that splatter painting? Children love it and the texture works brilliantly too. 2. Thistle craft: pompoms and sticks make simple yet striking … [Read more...]
Cardboard box craft: golden ticket Roald Dahl costume
Roald Dahl Day is a new thing for me. As was the request for a costume at fairly short notice. I know my daughter and costumes: she is highly sensitive and thus costumes have a social terror attached to them that I cannot begin to understand. So I knew that she would need a costume that she could take off totally- to remove herself from a stressful situation- but that she would need a costume- to follow the school request, which is law in her … [Read more...]
A weekend in London with Tots 100
I received an email whilst on holiday this summer telling me that we had won a weekend break in London with Tots100 and Sealife. It was such a shock to find that our picture of fish, made so long ago and such a treasured memory, had won. And so in November we took the train to London for a night at the Marriott County Hall and a host of wonderful treats. First was the London Eye. I spent the time welded to the middle seat praying the … [Read more...]
