I have only one complaint about the Tesco Mum of the Year event at The Savoy on Sunday: there should have been more tissues. I started off well: I got all giggly catching up with blogging friends. I was thrilled beyond measure to be sitting with Lifetime Achievement winner Pam Clarke, and I *may* have done my best impression of a screaming teenager when I almost walked into Ronan Keating on the stairway. By the time I got to my table and … [Read more...]
Mum Of The Year Lifetime Achievement Award Winner: Pam Clarke
In 1991, Pam Clarke was told she had stomach cancer. She had beaten throat cancer thirty years earlier, but this time she was told the cancer was terminal. Against all expectations, Pam recovered from the cancer that should have killed her. It had a profound effect on her outlook and she determined to make the most of the time she had been given and her work has touched the lives of thousands of people in her local area of Ilkley, West … [Read more...]

I put together a colouring and activity pack by printing pages from internet searches on the internet. These kept the children busy until everyone arrived. We made Toilet roll binoculars for the main craft. Once the children had finished their … [Read more...]
February 2014
1. DH and I go to the wedding of a good friend. Without the children. Overnight. 2. Back home we plant a few (dozen) trees. The Girls stage sword fights with the supporting canes. 3. The wonder Hound gets a tennis ball stuck in my boot. I may have laughed for a good ten minutes watching her trying to reacquire it. 4. She fell asleep in Daddy's office. Little sister fell asleep next to me in the sitting room. Why … [Read more...]
Cinderella’s Glass Slipper Craft
Last week a few bloggers got together for a Craft Hangout where we talked about great Fairytale Craft ideas. The Girls and I made some really lovely Rapunzel bookmarks. I also showed a Cinderella's Glass Slipper Craft on the hangout. It's super simple to make. I tried making it out of a clean recycled milk carton (the plastic ones, not the Tetrapak kind) but it wasn't as transparent as I wanted. It's a Glass Slipper after all. So I ran a … [Read more...]
