What I wore to recreate our first date #ootd

There’s been a hint of Spring in the air: the sight of snowdrops and crocuses flowering, a couple of gloriously sunny days over half-term, half-term itself in fact.

And this half-term we made the most of the spring weather, heading into London with The Girls to recreate our first date.

DH and I met for the first time at Benihanas in Piccadilly, on a chilly December day. We had lunch then wandered down the road to the Royal Academy to enjoy their Aztec exhibition. After that, and because we were happy in each other’s company, we wandered up to the bar of Waterstones on Piccadilly and chatted away until our respective schedules forced us to part.

Love is all around at Benihana Piccadilly

Given that DH is now my husband of nine years it should be apparent that the date went well. The Girls have long heard the story of our first date and hatched a plan with my romantic other half to recreate it on Valentine’s weekend. So we went to the Reubens exhibition at The Royal Academy, and then we went to Benihana’s for lunch, before heading to Waterstone’s for books, cake and hot chocolate.

Naturally I needed to dress to suit the occasion. So did The Girls. We accidentally dressed to match the window at Fortnum and Masons, but it was Valentine’s so we got away with it.

I didn’t marry him for his photography skills. We are lovingly out-of-focus. I think it suits me.

I wore my go-to Gok at Sainsbury jeans, and a splendid Wrangler belt (I am a closet Country-wannabee) along with a pair of Chelsea Boots I picked up in the sale. The jacket is Whistles- a purchase made  years ago in a charity shop- and the Joules Blossom Scarf is my homage to spring, which was worn over a cardigan from Lands End!

The Girls are wearing summer dresses and sequinned cardigans from Lands End and the red coats- handed down by a friend- are from Blue Zoo.

Thanks Lindsay though I take no credit for the idea. I have an impossibly romantic daughter.
