{Review} Organic Children by Green People

Things you don;t think about when you are pregnant number 2973 (OK, I may have totally made that number up) are the chemical toxins you may find in your child’s toiletries. Obviously that doesn’t matter so much with a newborn because you really don’t need to use anything. But once you are a fully fledged parent- in my case with an almost-four-year-old and a five-and-a-half-year-old, you rather assume that bath products designed for children are actually designed for children’s skin.

Not so. SLS, is commonly found in shampoos and body washes as it creates bubbles. It is also a known skin irritant.

Green People’s Organic Children is made with your baby’s skin in mind and does not contain SLS or artificial fragrances.

organic children shampoo conditioner hand sanitiser

My gorgeous girls were sent some Berry Smoothie shampoo and conditioner to try out, and we have all fallen in love. Both products smell really lovely. The shampoo washes the girls’ fine, blonde and curly hair very well and rinses easily. There is no doubt that it has less foam but this is not a bad thing: you just have to train yourself to use a small amount, since you need far less of this shampoo than you would your regular one. The conditioner is likewise scented- the details say raspberry, vanilla and pineapple, but the girls seem to think “berries”. It is thick and makes the hair feel beautiful. Conditioner is essential to help manage the curly/fine combination LBG has, and this conditioner does exactly what I need it to.

Both products are Certified Organic, with over 80% certified organically grown ingredients, so they have serious green credentials as well as serious awards!

We were also sent a bottle of anti-bacterial hand sanitiser to try out and that, my friend, is a revelation. Perfect for your handbag or baby bag, for the car, the plane, the pushchair, there are a dozen reasons why you need this in your life. It’s obviously made with the same organic, SLS-free ethos that Green People have, and it doesn’t smell remotely medicinal. Gentle enough for even the most sensitive hands, it doesn’t dry the skin and doesn’t need water- perfect for children like mine who do not like washing their hands in bathrooms other than their own. You also get about 200 “washes” from a bottle so it’s great value too.

All Organic Children Products are available via the Green People Website, through selected John Lewis Stores, Independent Health Stores and Ocado.com. The Berry Shampoo & Conditioner retails at £8.50 for 200ml each and the Hand Sanitiser at £9.95 for 100ml bottle. I would stress that you do need to use a lot less product than you would with a regular shampoo, so in terms of price per use this is not as expensive as it may seem.

Disclosure: we were sent the above products for the purposes of writing this review. Our opinions are our own. No payment was received.

I love Green People stuff. I’m currently desperately trying to use up everything in our bathroom cabinets and then I plan to restock with products that are kind to our bodies and the world we live in. Green People’s range will be on that list!

SO the message is: buy Green People. It’s kind to the skin, kind to the environment and (cost per wash) kind to your wallet! The internet (by which ~I mean my lovely commenters) has spoken 🙂

Thanks for sharing. I struggle to find gentle products for my little one’s sensitive skin so I will give these a try as we usually order through Ocado x

Chemicals, chemicals everywhere…. except here obvs. You’d think you could take it for granted that kids stuff is exempt, but no. Nice alternatives, ta.

Love the sound of that stuff… Can’t think of anything worse than putting high content chemical products on such young skin! Luckily over here they are very good at this kind of thing, so we have a bit of choice which is nice! 🙂

Looks lovely, my littlest gets eczema and I have to be very careful what we use with him, so always keep my eye out for natural and organic products.

These sound absolutely lovely. Noah has really sensitive skin so I’m always very wary of supermarket products because it’s such a false economy, I’ll have to buy something more expensive and kinder to his skin anyway! Will deffo check these out 🙂
