I got the idea for these treats when making my latest batch of Edible Sparkles- Dimples was messing around with the bits and pieces I had on the side for decorating them with, and was trying to make a face. I realised that a glace cherry half would make an excellent reindeer nose and before you know it, we had a dozen reindeer cooling in the fridge.
To make 12 Chocolate Reindeer Treats, you will need:
200g chocolate, melted. I used milk.
6 glace cherries, halved (nose)
24 pieces of flaked almond** (ears)
3 Curly Wurly chocolates. I used these for antlers, and cut them into pieces using scissors. You don’t need three bars unless the three-year-old helping you out keeps stealing pieces. You could use pretzel pieces instead.
24 Wilton candy eyes. Or white chocolate chips, which you could pipe eyeballs on, or draw eyeballs on with an edible pen.
Line a baking tray, or other tray, with baking paper. Place spoonfuls of melted chocolate onto the paper and use the bake of the spoon to spread them into discs. I worked four at a time, so you may want to have a bowl of boiling water nearby over which you can rest your pan or bowl of chocolate to keep it molten whilst you work.
Add the bits and pieces to make your reindeer face, pressing them into the chocolate to form a good hold.
Cool until set, peel off the paper and pack up as gifts. Or eat. They have fruit in, after all, so they can’t be that bad for you!
**Utterly Scrummy made the excellent suggestion that if you cannot use nuts due to having nut-free school or children, or you just don’t like nuts, you could simply use white chocolate buttons cut in half.**

These are absolutely amazing. I definitely have to make them for next year. Do u have any recommendations for using anything else instead of almonds for ears as we have but allergies in this house but really want to make these. So cute. Happy holidays. Thanks for sharing.

hey Jenny, thanks for commenting. I would use a white chocolate button/chocolate drop/candy melt cut in half as an alternative to the almond slice ears!
These are adorable!!
