Fingerprint Poppy Craft

Sometimes simple ideas are the best.

I was putting together a post on Remembrance Day Crafts at the weekend, when Dimples looked over my shoulder.

poppy from bingo dabbers

She asked if she could make a poppy from ‘dots’, which I discovered meant our Bingo Dabbers, which have lain unused since we moved. So I got them out and she dabbed plenty of little flowers from ‘dots’. Whilst my back was turned she, of course, covered her hands in red bingo dabber. Which she then discovered makes a pretty good print. I got in on the action too, of course. She went back to dabbing poppies and I used an ink pad to make fingerprint ones.

I used a marker pen to make black dotted centres. For hers, we used a blob of glue and some poppy seeds that I had in the kitchen cupboard. I remember seeing poppy seeds used in one of the crafts on my Remembrance Day Board and thought it was a super idea to use poppies to make poppies. And they all stand, sentries on the window ledge, next to my framed button poppy, to remind us of our gratitude to the fallen and those who continue to defend.
