Pipecleaners are such great crafting tools when what you need is a simple outline shape. Take how to make a shamrock from a pipecleaner. Although this post seems lengthy, in reality each shamrock takes seconds to make once you’ve perfected the technique so is ideal for last minute St Patrick’s Day crafting, such as this Rainbow Door Wreath.
1. First take your pipecleaner and bend over. Twist the two ends together until they are about an inch long- roughly 1/4 of the length of the halved cleaner.
2. Next, bend the loop into a triangle, like a rough tv antenna. This breaks the remaining pipecleaner into thirds so that you can make the shamrock.
3. Bend each triangle apex in to the centre of the shamrock and twist round to hold in place so that now you have three loops and a stem.
4. Taking one ‘loop’ at a time, push in the centre-most point, and push in the edges at the same time: this should give you a rough heart shape. Repeat with the other two loops.
And there you have a pipecleaner shamrock. Fiddle with it if needs be, then use in a wreath, garland, card or other St Patrick’s Day decoration.
Go on! You know you want to tell me what you think!
