{Recipe} Apple Heart Tarts.

I saw this super idea on Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom and fell in love.

So today, I rolled out a sheet of puff pasty and cut out four large hearts using my heart cutter. You could cut any size you like obviously, since these pies are individual-sized tarts.

Next I laid a pair of hearts on a baking sheet (Lakeland’s I Can Cook range, since you ask.) I piled on a couple of dessert spoons of apple sauce.

From the remaining pair of pastry hearts, I cut out another, smaller heart.

Then I stuck the second heart over the apple-sauced-heart, sealing with water, pressing down and then crimping the edges with a fork.

Bake in a hot oven (the oven of doom was at 170C but you may need to go to 190C) until gold and risen.

Leave to cool.

Sprinkle heart opening with heart sprinkles. Because you can.

Serve with custard, ice-cream, squirty cream, double cream, creme fraiche……..

These look really, really delicious. My mouth is watering just reading this recipe. My parents were amazing this week and Dad spent all afternoon trying to unblock our drains so I think a few Apple Tart Hearts would be a great way to say thank you to them πŸ™‚

A lovely recipe, I’ll try it (thought without the sprinkles, as I don’t like them).
