{Review} Morphy Richards breadmaker

As a member of the Morphy Richards Innovators team, I recently took delivery of a bread maker.

Less than two hours later, I produced my first loaf of bread.

Morphy Richards Breadmaker review

I have since tried several different recipes from the accompanying book to get a feel for the machine and as far as I can see it there is only one fault.

Sadly, it’s a big one. There is a teeny tiny blade that sits at the bottom of the bread pan which is responsible for all the mixing. Rather than being fixed, as in other breadmakers, it folds. And this drives me nuts: it folds down whilst you are trying to load the pan with ingredients so you end up having to fish around getting your hands wet to set it upright again (the book tells you it needs to be upright.) It also embeds itself right into the loaf, so that you end up with a gaping hole when trying to extract it. And finally, because it has a swivel facility, it is much harder to clean than a fixed blade.

It does have some great features: the viewing panel is brilliant: I love being able to see the machine at work. The whole lid comes off making it much quicker and easier to cool down, empty, load etc.

It is very stylish with a brushed steel carcass.

MOrphy Richards Breadmaker results

I have tried quick loaves, fruit loaves, bread dough and french bread. All had an excellent bake, good crust and great texture. The results are great, and with 19 programmes, there are so many other things you can make too. I’ve yet to try jam and compote, but am looking forward to it. I just wish it had a second fixed blade.

With Christmas coming up, you may well be looking for a breadmaker as a gift for someone, in which case, Morphy Richards would be delighted to offer 30% off the Premium Plus Breadmaker 48324: just go to www.morphyrichards.co.uk and enter BM24BLOG at the checkout.

If that wasn’t enough the team are busy creating a fantastic new app for the Morphy Richards Facebook page. You’ll you be able to create wish list of the Morphy Richards products you hope to find under the tree this year and then send the wish list to friends and family. The best bit? They’ll get an exclusive discount so they can treat you. It’s set to go live mid November so like their facebook page now to avoid missing out!

*disclosure: I was sent this breadmaker as part of a programme of reviews. My opinions are my own.

We have a breadmaker and it’s lovely to use but I must confess it’s a bit of a pain in the bum to use and clean.
