Polo-shirts.co.uk is launching a competition which calls upon your t-shirt designing skills. Your children can enter their design and the winning blogger (and parent of designer) gets £100 given to the charity of their choice.
We were sent t-shirts and fabric crayons by the people at Polo Shirts with which to create our masterpieces.
I put a piece of card between the front and back of the t-shirt to prevent transfer, and I stuck the t-shirt to the table using masking tape. It’s tricky drawing on fabric, and sticking it to the table minimised wrinkling and moving, which made the colouring much easier to manage.
LBG drew what she always draws: a rainbow, with some starts, a heart and flowers. She took a lot of time over it and is understandably proud.
Dimples is all about the scribbles, so I worked this to my (?) advantage by using sticky back plastic (contact paper). I drew a large letter A onto the backing paper and cut it out. I stuck the leftover letter template (including the small triangle) on the front of the t-shirt and let Dimples go mad. She covered the whole thing in scribbles. When she was finished, I pulled off the sticky plastic and there was a perfectly scribbled letter A. Thank you very much Pinterest, where I found this Sharpie T-shirt Tutorial.
Then it was just a matter of ironing the t-shirts on a hot dry setting to fix the colour.
In the event that one of The Girls wins, we would very much like for polo-shirts to donate to this year’s Poppy Appeal. If you follow this blog you will know that I feel strongly about remembering, appreciating and honouring the work that the Armed Forces and their families do. Just search ‘remembrance’, or look at the ‘wear your poppy with pride’ category for posts in the subject.
Of course if you are able to donate to this incredibly worthy cause, it’s as simple as putting money in the box at most retail outlets, schools and other municipal buildings, and wearing a poppy on your lapel to show you have donated. But the British Legion website is full of information about where your money goes and how you can help.

Go on! You know you want to tell me what you think!
