This is the tale of Pigling Bling, a country girl, whose dreams stretched far beyond the fences of the homestead where she was born. She tended chickens and watered the carrots every day, just as her mother had before her, but it did untold damage to her beautiful trotters. When she closed her eyes, she herself in Pig City, performing to sold-out audiences around the world. There was no doubt she’d look fabulous in curve-hugging creations from the designer of the moment at premieres and charity balls, maybe even a Royal wedding (just like her idol Pork Spice). She wanted fast cars and features in Oink! magazine. She was too big for her little town.
Miles away in Pig City someone else had dreams too. Porcefina had everything Pigling Bling dreamed of, but the glamour had begun to pall. Premieres and parties and walking down the red carpet on the arm of her handsome date seemed like fun but they were really quite tiring. There were so many expectations: she could never leave her chic apartment in anything less than full make-up for fear that the pork-erazzi would snap an unflattering image. She would give anything for a little homestead in a quaint place no-one in the City had heard of: a patch of grass to cultivate, grow her own vegetables, tend chickens and write her Autobiography. She longed for early nights and the chance to curl up in front of a log fire whilst she finally learned to crochet.
Will Pigling Bling make it to Pig City? Can Porcefina realise her dream of a quiet rural life? Keep your eyes peeled for the next installment of the thrilling tail!

To help encourage today’s younger generation to save, Natwest have launched a new #pigsbykids campaign. From now until 11th November you can upload your porky creation to the Pigs By Kids website for the chance to have your pig used as the design for the newest member of the Natwest Pig family.
We made our pigs with an amazing craft kit sent to us. The pigs were ‘directed’ by the children but the decoration and backdrops were all their own work (except for the ‘get an adult to help’ elements.) The story was born after watching Barbie- Princess and the Popstar. LBG thought that their pigs were just like the girls in the story. I just got a bit carried away with porcine puns.
1. The competition is open to children up to 13 years old.
2. The winning design will become the new NatWest pig.
3. The closing date for entries is 12pm on 11th November 2012
4. Terms and conditions apply see website for details.
Follow all the fun with the #pigsbykids hashtag!
Disclosure: This is an advertising promotion for NatWest. We were provided with a beautiful craft kit so that the children could create a pig themselves.
