2 Ingredient dough: cheesy dough balls

Now I think about it, I should have called this post 3-ingredient dough balls, since that is all it requires:

Greek yogurt- I used TOTAL, which has a great consistency for this kind of dough making.

Self-raising flour

Cheese.

I developed it whilst using the last of my 2-Ingredient breadstick dough.

cheesy dough balls recipe

Make the dough up according to the instructions: half the mixture made about 8 balls, so I would guess that a full batch would make about 16-18, depending on the size you make them.

Divide the dough into pieces about the size of a walnut, then roll each one out into a circle about the size of your Β (adult) palm.

Place a small mound of grated cheese- I used a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar that I bought ready-grated in Waitrose*- in the centre of the circle and fold in all the edges.

Roll the cheese-filled bundle gently into a ball and place- folded edges down, onto a lined baking sheet.

[optional: brush with beaten egg or milk for golden brown, shiny balls. You could also sprinkle with seeds like the breadsticks.]

Repeat with your other dough balls and place them in a preheated oven at about 220C for ten minutes until golden. LIke bread, if you give them a little tap and they sound hollow (-ish- they still have cheese inside) then they are ready.

They will be very hot in the middle so leave for a few minutes to cool before serving. Perfect for small children, or unexpected visitors, or because your other half is late home from work and you can’t be bothered to make an actual meal (not that I would know about that…)

easy peasy cheesy dough balls

*The mozzarella cheese will make the dough balls stringy in the middle, like pizza-restaurant dough balls, but has little real flavour so I like to add something stronger such as cheddar. YOU can use any cheese you have or wish!*

*Disclosure: I was sent a lot of Total yogurt for review. I used it for this recipe as it was to hand but found it to be much better than others I have used. That’s just my opinion.
