There is nothing better in my daughters’ world than dressing up: they put on my shoes, DH’s shoes, even visitors’ shoes. They sometimes wear Daddy’s (clean) pants on their head, and they really like putting together their outfits each morning. It won’t surprise you to learn that our toy box recently became the dressing up box, and it is actually bulging with dresses and hats and Disney paraphernalia. Which is why I should have politely declined when Joker’s Masquerade got in touch about their costumes. Except that a recent growth spurt by both Girls has put a dent in our costumery. Thus they ended up receiving in the post two pink Halloween costumes.
Joke.co.uk has an astonishingly large range of costumes, some of which had me in stitches: I can genuinely picture a batch of twenty-somethings walking round Amsterdam in traffic cone costumes for example. An I could really have done with their Hawaiian discount a couple of years ago when DH and I had to attend a Luau. But I am- rather cleverly I thought- planning ahead to this autumn’s annual Pumpkin party which may, for the first time, contain Halloween elements. Hence the choices: they are both witch costumes, but with a child-friendly bias and a good amount of pink.
Both the child’s Kitty Witch Costume and the child’s Fairy Witch Costume looked exactly like the website image and the sizing was pretty accurate too, with the exception of the hat on the Kitty costume, which was easily big enough to fit my head. Obviously they are both synthetic fabric, and have netting, so both girls complained that the costumes were scratchy, but given that they will be wearing them in ‘winter’ over other clothing, I don’t really see this as an issue. The main thing for me is that they are bright and cheerful, rather than scary, and both Girls are in love.
You can find Joker’s Masquerade on Facebook and Twitter if you want to keep up to date with their offers and promotions.
*disclosure: we received two costumes in exchange for this review but our opinions are honest and unbiased.*
Go on! You know you want to tell me what you think!
