How to give your doormat a new look

Take one can of spray paint, one service-able but tired doormat and a warm day and what do you get?

To make a personalised door mat it really is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Here’s How to give your doormat a new look.

First, mark out your pattern on the doormat. I used Bin Stickers I bought at the 99p Store, and some packing tape. Take the time to make sure everything is firmly stick down and all the lines are straight.

Second, cover with an even coat of spray paint in your choice of colour. I had black on hand. Leave to dry and then apply another good coat: some of the colour will fade as the mat absorbs it.

Third, peel off the tape once the paint is thoroughly dry and place on your front doorstep.

I love how this looks. I actually have a blank doormat sitting in the trunk of my car waiting to be decorated, but with the joys of Seattle weather, it immediately started raining the second I bought the doormat and hasn’t stopped long enough for spraypaint to dry.
