Look away now if you have triskaidekaphobia!
Our week began with me, bemused, looking at a the kitchen clock and trying to work out why it was running an hour faster than the clock on the microwave. I shouldn’t have forced our house-guests into a Vodka tasting whilst watching Liam Neeson’s Taken the night before! My poor Dimples seemed really under the weather so I wondered if she’d had a little snifter whilst our backs were turned and was similarly incapacitated. In actual fact she was unwell: a high temperature and very bad headache, so she spent most of Monday on the sofa. LBG made a brilliant nursemaid, fetching and carrying for her sister, and we all enjoyed sitting in the garden in the sunshine whilst the Man-Cave was rendered that afternoon.
Still ill overnight, and on Tuesday morning- is there anything worse than hearing your two-year-old beg for ‘medi’ because her ‘head is hurting’?- I kept Dimples home from cooking class. As DH was working from home, it gave us a rare chance to spend time together with our youngest. She shocked us both by proving to be very good with a hockey stick as we all had a knock-around in the garden, and was much improved by the end of the day.
Wednesday was another fabulous day of sunshine, so I took the chance to get going with a few craft projects that benefitted from drying outside. I also, slightly perversely, spent the morning getting her school uniform sorted for September: I’ve got a lot of sewing name-tapes to do! Thursday meant running the last playgroup of term: an Egg Hunt for 16 children, Hot Cross Buns for the Mums, and giving out the gift bags I made a couple of weeks ago. I scooped up the exhausted Girls from school for tea at a friend’s house and queued for 25 minutes to fill the car with petrol- unavoidable because we were very low on fuel.
Friday meant two things: Easter Bonnet Parade and End-of-Term. Between the 8.30am drop-off and 10.30am Bonnet Parade, Dimples and I hit the town for last-minute teacher gifts and to visit the rabbits in the pet shop. You could tell LBG was ready for the holidays as she fell asleep on the way home from the Parade. A few hours later and we all went out to End-of-Term tea with Daddy before heading off to the Beach.
It’s been a while since we went to the Play Barney (as The Girls always call it) so we headed over there for fun and an All Day Breakfast. There were a few errands that needed doing after that then we headed back to The Beach House for an afternoon of Lady and the Tramp. My family snuggled up on the sofa under a blanket: what better way to end the week?
