Project 366 Week Eleven

happy families

Project 366 Week Eleven, Sunday: my family, enjoying the sun at the Bedgebury playground.

walk the line

Project 366 Week Eleven, Monday: walk the line. My fail-safe technique for getting my Little Misses to walk independently to the 'baked potato shop' after dancing

Build a Bear

Project 366 Week Eleven, Tuesday: Dimples gets her very own pink bear. The staff very kindly took a photograph of us both. I should remember to get in more pictures!

Easter egg time

Project 366 Week Eleven, Wednesday: it's time to put the Easter gift bags together for Playgroup's Annual Egg Hunt. They 'hunt' plastic eggs which they then 'trade' for a gift bag. That way every child gets the same, regardless of how many eggs they find.

free parking

Project 366 Week Eleven, Thursday: the only benefit to my two and half hour delay at the hospital was that I didn't have to pay for the parking.

my name

Project 366 Week Eleven, Friday: investigating the school bag today, I found this Mother's Day note. The exciting thing for me is that it is the first time I have seen LBG write her name without dot-to-dot-style help. Totally independent writing!!

hat swap

Project 366 Week Eleven, Saturday: Dimples was given a ride back from the beach on Daddy's shoulders and decided that she would rather wear his hat. In exchange she put hers on his head. It was one of those spontaneous moments that leaves you all in stitches from laughing so hard.

The weather seemed to shift almost overnight so that Sunday dawned beautiful, sunny and mild. We took the opportunity to head out as a family into deepest Kent and spent a fabulous day at Bedgebury National Pinetum. We all returned thoroughly exhausted, which is perhaps why I awoke at 6.30am on Monday on the end of Dimples’ bed still wearing the apron I had on when I was cooking supper.

That’s how I started the week. The Girls were on better form, reassured by Daddy returning, and made the most of dancing in the morning and Granny’s house in the afternoon. The fog lingered in the Addington Hills for most of the day, though this didn’t affect the plasterers who whipped through the Man-Cave whilst we were out. By Tuesday, the plaster drying nicely, it was beginning to look like a room rather than a cave, with working electric too. Tuesday was a Red Letter Days for both Little Misses: LBG had an after-school Magic Party to raise funds. Dimples was promised a very exciting trip to Build-a-Bear. LBG got her own Build-a-Bear adventure last year, but for the last six weeks we have been unable to pry the pink bear from Dimples’ fingers. Sadly it was reclaimed by the rightful owner at the school gates. It seemed only fair that Dimples has one too, so we made a pilgrimage that afternoon. She, of course, chose a pink bear, so DH and I will spend the rest of our lives trying to tell the two apart.

Wednesday morning brought our termly meeting with LBG’s Key Worker to check her progress: she seems to be doing very well and in fact completed four worksheets whilst we talked and Dimples played with the jigsaws. We are very proud parents. I pushed DH out of the car at our front door and sped off to Bluewater for a catch up with Mari, the Great British Housewife. We may have talked without a break for two hours. I took advantage of the new Waitrose Food Hall to grab the bits of shopping I needed to be able to spend the afternoon making Easter Treat bags for the end of term which is now only a two weeks away!

Domestic God disappeared to Leeds overnight on Thursday, rounding off a fairly rubbish day in which I spent two and a half hours waiting for a delayed Consultant’s appointment. Granny M popped by to say hello, and The Girls had a playdate so that by bedtime every last centimetre of the two girls was tired. Early bedtime was wasted: Dimples woke up later with very obvious conjunctivitis and spent an unsettled night in my bed (good thing DH was away)- at one point screaming “Don’t touch me!” when I was all the way across my gorgeous why-can’t-it-be-SuperKing-King-sized-bed.

Needless to say we spent Friday at home, missing LBG’s Mother’s Day Assembly, because Dimples was so under the weather. But we played with toys, did lots of colouring, had a nap and generally relaxed in the warm house. How is it that it could be 17C and sunny yesterday then misty and cold today? I love the unpredictability of the British weather.

Despite the rain, the Beach House was calling to us all: we stacked up the fire, broke out the DVDs and generally had an easy family afternoon reacquainting ourselves with the house we all love so much. Then we bundled up and headed down to the water to splash in the puddles and chase dogs on the beach. A fabulous end to the week.

You have the most beautiful daughters I honestly think I’ve ever seen, they are just stunning. That top photo is just marvellous and I hope you’re going to frame it? The intense smile and vibrant blue eyes on your eldest daughter’s face is just *wow*!

Are you not linking up this week? 🙁

Thanks TheBoyandMe: bit slow on the uptake this week. Had a laptop-free day for Mothers’ Day!! I really appreciate your comment though, and I am definitely getting it framed!
